Christopher Michael Schmiedeke

Chris did an excellent job for me and had outstanding oversight of my case. He's extremely trustworthy, knowledgeable, and his advice was spot on. He was extremely mindful of costs and I didn't spend a dime more than necessary. He's very experienced in divorce and mediation. My only complaint is that... he is a man of very few words and sometimes I was unclear on where things stood in the process. Maybe he's been through this so much he assumes one knows what's going on (I rarely deal with the legal system). He always answered my emails immediately, but sometimes they were really short answers. But ultimately he was always watching my back, kept costs down, and I was 100% satisfied with the settlement. Go in knowing what you want, be honest with him, and he'll deliver.

Chris represented me in a number of court proceedings from 2010-2012, that followed my 2007 divorce. This period, following my divorce, continued to prove to be very stressful. Chris was there, helping me along and fighting for me in court. The proceedings encompassed a range of issues associated w...ith child custody, child support, and the related enforcement (from spouse). He understood court process, both outside the courtroom, as well as in. Chris proved to be very professional and knowledgeable in all of these areas. He listened to my problems, explained how to proceed via the court, explained all of the options including pros and cons, and then listened to what I wanted to do. He took me step-by-step through the process and prepared me for my court appearances. His prepared court filings were very thorough, clear, and most importantly, enforceable. I consider my association with Chris to be very successful and would highly recommend him as a family law or divorce lawyer. Communication with Chris was minimized, but he was always there when I had questions and was always willing to meet when I desired a face-to-face meeting. Correspondence was usually via email, which he usually answered within the hour, but were always responded to the same day. Mr. Schmiedeke’s office was easy and responsive to work with. Billing occurred monthly with a detailed bill. Mr. Schmiedeke’s billing practice was very fair and rates were extremely reasonable. I fully recommend Mr. Schmiedeke as a family or divorce lawyer.

A midst the unpleasantness of getting a divorce, Mr. Schmiedeke made the process the least painful possible. He walked me through the whole process and helped me to understand what was going to happen each step of the way. It was easy and quick and I was able to deal with the emotional side while he ...took care of the legal issues. I highly recommend him if you are found in an unfortunate situation such as mine.

This case was one for the record books. My ex took my child out of the state with no notice. Our original divorce decree was a joke, and there were no provisions for visitation or geographical restrictions. I went from seeing my son roughly 50% of the time to 4 days a month! From the beginning, C...hris was very up-front and honest about what we might expect from the judge, even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Although the process was very long and drawn-out (due to Dallas County legal system, not Chris), in the end it was all worth it. Chris has an interesting style. He was very cool and calculated during our meetings and in emails. I was very emotional about the whole situation, after all my son was literally taken from me, and I was a bit worried that he might not present my case to the court the way I wanted him to. His experience and knowledge was reassuring, however, so I stuck with him for the final hearing nearly a year later. At the final hearing, I was very impressed and surprised by the way Chris handled himself. He was still cool and calculated, but he was able to corner my ex and her new husband into admitting almost everything they had been trying to deny from the beginning. There was even a point reminiscent of that famous scene in "A Few Good Men", and I was very proud to have him there representing me. I wasn't sure he had it in him, but he really shined that day! Overall, I got the best outcome I could have hoped for. Ironically, the judge ruled almost exactly the way Chris told me he would. My son is back in Texas, I have joint custody, expanded standard visitation, and his residence is restricted to Rockwall and Dallas counties. I chose Chris because of a review like this, and some of the advice that he readily gives on these sites. I hope this helps anyone who is going through a tough situation to feel good about choosing Chris as their attorney.
