In 2012, the common goal of helping people with their personal legal needs brought me together with my law partner Tracy Hightower-Henne to form Hightower Reff Law. 

 

A North Dakota native, I earned my Juris Doctorate degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2001, after graduating in 1997 from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. During my time at Creighton, I was captain of the women's rowing team and a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. 

 

Staying active in the legal community is important to me. I am a member of the Nebraska Women's Bar Association, Chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association's Juvenile Law Section, and is a former member of the Nebraska Bar Leadership Academy.

 

In 2015, I was honored to be published in the Nebraska Lawyer Magazine when I wrote about how the law led me to parenthood; Living at a Crossroads: My Experience as a Juvenile Court Attorney and Foster Parent, Nebraska Lawyer Magazine, September/October 2015.

A great law team
Susan and her staff really put our minds at ease. She walked us through a difficult time with aplomb. As our case developed, we felt party to all decisions and she held our hand when dark days were on the horizon. I feel her constant updates and advice really eased my mind. I would not hesitate to recommend her and her firm to both family and friends.

When I first met with Susan she seemed very understanding and did not push me into something I did not want to do. I left the first meeting felling a little better about a bad situation. When I hired her she was not pushy about what to do are how to do it or the time to get it done. Because I was still hoping for a different outcome. Susan and her staff was very understanding even when I did not take there advise. They still guided me through a very hard time. Thank You!

Amazing Attorney
I am blown away at how easy it is to communicate with Susan. She really speaks with me, not to me. Susan does a fantastic job of educating her clients on the legal process and the upcoming steps of the case; be it in- or out-of court. I can't think of any attorney better able to handle family law.

Highly Recommended!
Susan really listened to us during a very stressful time. She was able to explain things to us in a way that we felt comfortable and the outcome of our case was better because we had Susan as our lawyer!

Very Professional and Knowledgeable!
Susan is very knowledgeable about family law and criminal defense. I would recommend her to anyone in these stressful situations. She actually listens to your problems and works with you to come up with an effective strategy.

Wonderful
I was referred to Susan from a family member who works for the Douglas County Public Defender Office. She did an outsanding job on 2 charges I had in 2 different counties, both of wich were dissmissed. She was as professional as they come, down to earth, and straight up with me. Prompt and well priced. Hope I never need a lawyer again, but if I do, Susan would be the person that I would call.
