About me

Marc Siegel is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Illinois Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

He is a member of the trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Siegel graduated from Duke University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While attending undergraduate school, he served as a dispute mediator for the Durham Dispute Settlement Center. Mr. Siegel obtained his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law. While at law school, he taught courses in negotiation skills and written and oral communications to Masters Business Administration students. He also won the law school’s Client Counseling Competition, received an award for his writing ability, and was a member of the Moot Court Bench.

After graduation, Mr. Siegel worked at a mid-size Chicago law firm, which represented management exclusively in labor and employment law matters. In 2002, he joined with attorney Alejandro Caffarelli to form the law firm of Caffarelli & Siegel Ltd., which serves a broad range of clients, from individuals to small businesses and Fortune 500 Companies, and concentrates in the areas of labor and employment and business immigration law.

In addition to regularly appearing in state and federal court on employment matters, Mr. Siegel represents clients in investigations and hearings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Illinois Department of Labor, and other state and local administrative agencies. Mr. Siegel has extensively lectured employers on all areas of labor and employment law, and has trained managers and employees for clients around the country.

For his business clients, Mr. Siegel’s philosophy is to work with his clients in taking proactive measures in the workplace, such as conducting personnel audits and working with management to minimize employment risks. Mr. Siegel has frequently trained clients around the country who desire to remain union free and has successfully run campaigns against unions who have sought to unionize clients. In addition, he has negotiated collective bargaining agreements and has handled all stages of the union grievance and arbitration process. Mr. Siegel has also drafted and reviewed legislation for the State of Illinois, and is a published author on labor law issues in the construction industry.

Mr. Siegel is a member of numerous professional and service organizations, including the Young Leadership Board of the Holocaust Memorial Foundation of Illinois and Ben Gurion Society of the Jewish United Fund. He also has instructed Dale Carnegie courses and served as a volunteer counselor for One Step at a Time, a camp for children with cancer.
