I was sick bedridden pregnant and didn't know anyone in the state of Illinois with no job when my husband left me. We moved to Illinois because my husband was in the Navy. We fought over whether he really wanted the baby and his lies of his whereabouts- which made him hit my dog on his way out leavin...g me. I was isolated for almost 6 years since being with him and I was so embarrassed to find out he lied that I was physically abusive to him while he was the victim just so he could get out of a lease and keep the BAH and not have to give a penny. I was not smart and thought maybe I should beg and thought abuse and cheating is better then walking into the unknown. it was exhausting and so painful to be discard like trash after when someone was with you still treat you like trash. A lot of times I didn't want to remember or go digging back into the past messages of the violence times as I try to block a lot of bad memories of he did to me. It was also embarrassing since I never told anyone and now I had to tell the lawyers but it felt like speaking to a best friend. Every time I felt worthless, I thought of how i would be letting my lawyers down who believed in me and are fighting for my well being. It is because of them believing in me, I went from being almost homeless to getting promoted and living in a really nice complex now and got to pay off my debt and lawyer fees ( not so bad for only 1 year in). It was nice to also hear back that the case went in my favor as my life was getting better so everything just fell into place when I started to pray. You need someone who is on your side and wants the best for you. I want to cry when I thought of how lucky I was to have them in my life during this horrific time because I didn't have anyone and it was scary.
