As a black man in the City of Chicago you can get your life taken away at the drop of a hat in many ways. I was wrongfully charged with 2ND DEGREE FELONY BURGLARY (3/7 years in prison!!) I have no record!! I am a veteran!!! college!! engineer!! single father!!! The cops showed up at my house one day I was on the way to pick up my son from his gifted program in school in the suburbs, and they just snatched me out of my car and swept me off to the city with sirens on and threw me in a cell. No info, no one would talk to me, lucky i got to make one 5 min phone call, but they had my cell so i had no numbers. I sat in that cell from 3:30 until 1:00am when two detectives "wanted to interview me" they played the confession game with me, but i told them i had nothing to hide, that i was a tenant of the space! I HAD A LEASE ON THE SPACE!!! They acted like they didnt know what was going to happen, threw me back in the cell, and then at 5:50am a cook county corrections van showed up. I was taken from the cell and handcuffed to a herion addict who was putrid smelling at best. I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON!!! I was processed through the DOC Cook County at 26th and California!!! Terror, fear, anguish, disillusion, betrayal and hopelessness is what I felt!! The phone system does not work, and no one I knew was able to accept any of my calls!!! I sat in there for what seemed like an eternity. Frightened to the core, but at a mental state of survival at this point. My survival instincts and mind state was deteriorated to a place I had never been before. I was going insane!! Literally!! But then out of nowhere! HARRIS?!! MICHAEL HARRIS?!! One of the guards was looking for me, apparently I had made bond. Being in a field house full of criminals and felons is a life changing experience. Literally. Something inside me changed after what I saw and what I had been through and the sounds. The things you hear might be the worst part. The anxious anticipation of danger at every movement is traumatic. I had to schmooze my way to a couple free El train hops and a Metra to get back all the way to Elgin, but I made it. MIND YOU THE PAST THREE DAYS MY SON WAS WITH OUR NEIGHBORS!!!! WE DON'T EVEN KNOW THEM LIKE THAT!!!!! But I made it back! I immediately got online to find a good attorney. I interviewed five attorneys, three wanted too much $7500, one was incompetent and the other was HOWARD WISE!! Mr Wise as I like to call him called me back right away. As soon as you hear his voice you can tell he's a Chicago guy. He asked what courthouse, and he starts telling me about the judge the states attorney and he knows all these people. MY KINDA GUY! And his price was very doable. So I met with him, he's got a Chicago and a suburb office right by my house. Perfect. We meet up and he scowers the lease and my reciepts and all the info. BAM, calls me two days later. Hes got the plan all worked out, case law this and that. Im still scared being black and a man so Im calling him every time some paranoid thought comes in my head and people around me running their mouths, and he picks up every time I call. "Mike, relax! First of all, I don't make promises, but I can almost guarantee you're not doing another day in the cook county jail, second, we have a solid case here so I'm pretty sure I can get it thrown out, but you gotta just let me do my job Mike!" "I been doing this for a long time, Im gonna fight for ya!!" And just like a counselor he calmed me down every time. A bunch of other great stuff happened, there's not enough room to write, so I'll leave you with this. PRELIMINARY HEARING FIRST APPEARANCE CASE DISMISSED!!! I was crying parents kids my woman everybody. I provide a life for my family!! Everybody was crying!! If you are black, and in the city of Chicago, and need a great lawyer at a good price?, BUT!! BUT!! NO HE CANT DO THE IMPOSSIBLE, but if you have a chance, he can get the job done. I can say that! The man is the real deal. Thank you Mr Wise!!

I got into an accident where I hit the car in front of me. I got scare because I hold a CDL license and I though this could hurt my license and I decided to drive off. Later, my car caught on fire and the police came to ask me what had happened and I had to admit that I was involved in an accident where I hit and run. I was giving 3 tickets which I knew I could possibly lose my license or have a moving violation in my record. I have to admit my driving record is not really good.
The date of my court, I arrived 10 minutes late. I was so scared to lose my license but Mr. Wise had everything under control. Once they judge called us, it took 2 minutes to have my case dismissed. This is the best lawyer I ever had- he is amazing!!!!!

I was driving 20 miles above the speed limit and was pulled over by the police. I received two tickets, one for speeding and one for driving without a valid drivers license, I was driving with an European drivers license which in the State of Illinois could be considered a misdemeanor. I met with Mr. Wise that immediately assured me that I would not get a conviction and worst case scenario I will only have to pay the speeding ticket. On the day of the court, Mr. Wise not only kept his word and I didn't receive a conviction but he was also able to get me "off the hook" for the speeding ticket. In the end, I got the best possible outcome, no tickets or fines. Mr. Wise is a straight shooter that does not need to "sugar code" and most importantly he is available to take your call at anytime. Highly recommend his services.

Could not ask for a better attorney. Howard is a great attorney who will tell you like it is May not be what you want to hear but this attorney will fight for you till the very end. I did not think my case would take as long as it did but Mr wise never gave up and stuck with it till the end. I can not say enough good things about this attorney. I hope I never have to do this again but if I do he is the one I want fighting for me.
Thank you Howard for your hard work.

Mr. Wise is the hardest fighting lawyer in the courtroom! His advice was honest and solid. I had an aggrivated battery, Mr. Wise took it to trial and I was found NOT GUILTY!!!! You can not get a better lawyer then him.

I paid Howard a lot of money to represent me. He was selling me dreams. The judge found me guilty, so i asked Howard if he could ask the judge to let me turn myself in at a later date so I can notify my job on whats going on, he tells the judge if I could turn myself in at a later date because we want to see what happen in probation court, so the judge asked what was i on probation for, Howard told him for the same offense. I asked Howard was he with me or against me. The judge sentence me to 200days county time and i lost my job. Thats not all...I paid him in advance for everything, so i had to see him again in front of my probation judge, the probation judge was about to give me 2years on my next court date, I told Howard to do something, he kept saying he aint going to do this and that, so i fired him, the public defender got me what Howard told me he couldnt get Hes very rude, and he do what he wants to do, once he has all your money. biggest mistake i ever mad hiring him!

Mr. Wise was very reassuring and positive to work with. This was the first time I've ever been in trouble with the law/been in a court room and Mr. Wise showed great professionalism and knowledge of the subject. The fact that he had experience and had won cases in the past that were very similar to mine was especially reassuring. Being new to a court room he could see I was a nervous wreck. He gave me hints, tips, and jokes to put me at ease. He helped prove my innocence and was great about showing me where/how to get my expungement started.
