Wonderful repesentation in a difficult real estate transaction
Anne Mudd helped me survive a real estate purchase from hell. I bought a gut-rehab condo from a builder long before construction was final. I had sold my home, but as the closing date neared he announced that he would not finish on schedule. This, of course, meant cancelling movers, delaying utility hook-ups, putting everything in storage and finding a short-term rental. It soon became apparent that there were myriad short-cuts taken in his work, and outright deception on some issues. Needless to say, this became a highly emotional and stressful situation. The closing was finally set for six days before Christmas -- not an ideal time to be moving. Anne helped me keep my sanity throughout this nightmare with her expert knowledge, practical advice and supportive attitude. She was even able to negotiate a refund for work that was not done as promised -- with the builder fighting tooth and nail until the very end at the closing. If I ever need a lawyer again, Anne is definitely the person I would hire and I recommend her without reservation.
Anne represented my husband and I in the purchase of our first home and we could not be more satisfied with her representation. She was on top of all communications and deadlines. She took the time to answer all of our questions and explained everything in an easy to understand language. She was accessible and helpful at all times, and we would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for an experienced attorney for their real estate transactions, and more.
Anne Chestney Mudd graduated cum laude from John Marshall Law School, where she served on Law Review. In addition, she holds a master's degree in mathematics with honors from the University of Louisville.
She received training in mediation from Pepperdine University School of Law and the College of DuPage. Anne also served as a mediation intern with Margaret S. Powers, an internationally-known mediator and trainer of mediators.
Prior to embarking on a law career, Anne succeeded in education, retail ownership, and real estate, as well as serving on boards of civic and government organizations while raising her three sons. She brings to the profession of law a hands-on understanding of the issues that affect people. Leveraging that understanding allows her to negotiate common ground and build workable solutions.
She is a member of the Mediation Council of Illinois; the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois, having served on the Board of Directors; the Association for Conflict Resolution; the American Bar Association; the Illinois State Bar Association; the West Suburban Bar Association; the DuPage County Bar Association; and the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers.

Intelligent, Well-Connected, Thoughtfui Lawyer
Anne has helped me and my family in a number of legal matters. To begin with, she represented me and my wife in the purchase of our first house. Since then, we have used Anne to represent our family in any real estate transaction. Also, we have represented Anne to our friends and family to represent them in real estate transactions - whether buying or selling a property.
Apart from real estate, Anne is also knowledgeable and experienced in representing individuals, couples, and families on intelligent estate planning. We used Anne to draft our trusts and wills. We also have recommended her for estate planning to our friends and family.
I would highly recommend Anne to anyone for real estate transactions and estate planning. Additionally, based on my experiences with her, I would recommend her to anyone needing a family law lawyer. Anne takes the time to explain everything in very clear terms - not typical lawyer speak. She listens to what we have to say. With other lawyers, it seems at times they have an agenda and push their own thoughts. With Anne, she listens to our objectives, our strategies, our plans - and then she presents the advantages and disadvantages to us both. And, when my wife and I disagree on the best strategies for our family, Anne works with us to resolve these differences. While this is not formal mediation I suppose, I can see the mediation skills she has by way of our ability to reach a compromise that has worked out for my family.
If you want a bloodthirsty downtown Chicago lawyer, Anne would be the first to recommend someone else. But, if you want someone who makes you feel at home in a living room, comfortable, and relaxed when making very important decisions, Anne is the perfect attorney - in any area in which she practices.
Based on more than 10 years of using her legal services, I will continue to come back to Anne and her office in the suburbs. And, to whomever may read this, I would recommend you call her and speak to her yourself. If she is available, she will take the time to say hello and invite you in for tea or coffee.

Highly recommend
Anne Mudd helped me through a very difficult and painful divorce. Her advice, encouragement and genuinely caring approach made what threatened to be an unbearable process easier than ever anticipated. Thinking back on everything, I think I also came away with some valuable life lessons for myself on how to better approach issues, consider all sides, and negotiate through challenging transactions. Anne's service was worth every penny and more, and I recommend her without reservation.

More touchy-feely than good representation
I went through a collaborative law process with this lawyer, but it turned out to not be collaborative at all. My ex-wife had hired a litigation attorney which basically steamrolled over me. My lawyer did little to protect me with regards to financial matters.
She spent more time sending warm and fuzzy notes to myself and my ex congratulating us on working things out rather than representing me.
There were several instances where I attempted to communicate with her unsuccessfully, where she did not reply to my phone calls or email.
Custody was decided amicably, but I attribute that to a child specialist I worked with, not this lawyer.
In my opinion, she did not give me adequate information regarding my rights and options.
I would not recommend hiring this lawyer.

"As a lawyer, I try to steer my clients to work things out before heading to court. Anne is the person that works best at this. She has a way of relaxing the clients and gets them to keep their eye on the ball and not fight over everything. It takes good negotiation skills to get two warring spouses to the table to reach an agreement, but she seems to get it done every time. Highly recommended."
