Divorce is never a decision that is made without prior thought and support. I knew for quite some time that this was the road my now ex and I were going down, and I began researching, gathering information, as well as support I very much knew I would need well before I hired David. I had been talking... with volunteers at The Lilac Tree, where David had been on the Board, and they highly recommended him to me. I called and had consultations with multiple divorce lawyers, but I knew when I spoke with David the first time that he was going to invest himself in doing the best he could for me, which he absolutely did. I had so many questions throughout the process, and so many really difficult and contentious issues that arose in my 17 month process, and he was available when I needed him the most, and walked me through the incredibly difficult process with both knowledge and compassion. He fought for the best interests of my three kids, and although there are always decisions and negotiations in a divorce that you won’t ultimately be happy about, he tried every step of the way to minimize that for me as best he could. The second attorney that worked with him as well as all of his other colleagues that helped me with everything he couldn’t (financial advisor, real estate agent, real estate attorney, QDRO attorney, insurance advisor), were all just as competent and truly made me feel as if I had a team that had my back and were on my side every step of the way. Late nights & laughs were such a bonus…I never felt as if he checked out at 5:00pm, and he definitely understood that in all the chaos & ridiculousness, sometimes laughter really is the best medicine. The only improvement that I could speak of was that there were a few times that questions I had were not specifically answered, as well as a few times that I felt I didn’t know or understand what was going on. There were motions that I would not have asked to file had I understood that they were a big gamble. He worked with me when things became incredibly difficult financially as well. He’s worth every penny I paid him…and 17 months is a lot of pennies.
