Knowledgeable and Effective

I was a client with Haller Kwan in a wrongful termination suit against a former employer. I brought my situation to 7 firms in Minneapolis, and 1 in Chicago, seeking counsel and information. All 8 of them offered to take my case- but I am VERY GLAD that I chose Haller Kwan. My situation was compl...icated, and along the way Ben and Ted were always able to explain the relevant circumstances of the law and educate me on the possibilities of how things would play out. These guys taught me a lot about the law and how it affects me. Most importantly, they were very conscious of my best interests given the many years in my career that I have left. We ended up targeting and attaining a favorable settlement outcome that has allowed me to rid myself of a negative situation, recover from the financial damages caused by my employer's unethical behavior, and point blank put the entire dilemma in the past. There were many moments this could have turned into a 'headline case' with big-time exposure, and other litigators would have pushed me deeper into legal battles for the sake of their own PR. Haller Kwan respected that was not my wish- and yet were still skilled enough to stand for my rights and get a great outcome. I would confidently say that anybody considering their services can depend on a team that will be dedicated to your needs, your feedback, and will pursue a goal that is truly aligned with your life. That doesn't mean they will sugar-coat what may not be great news... but they will certainly be able to explain the facts in a way that is easy for you to understand and make a decision from.

Wrongful termination

Hello, I’m writing this because I went through a long and emotional and frankly unbelievable termination. I was very stunned that I was let go but, Ben and Ted were able to be calm for me in the storm and they were also my voice to a big giant. They found things from my employment that they knew we...re not handled right. They informed me every step of the way with every phone call, every meeting they always let me know how my case was going. The amount of time they invested was above and beyond any attorney I have known. Even though I went through a terrible termination I gained my confidence back and I definitely was able to move on knowing someone else believed in me and what happened within my workplace. I am truly blessed to have such caring attorneys. I can say that I would recommend Ben and Ted without any hesitation.

Knowledgeable, Practical, Caring

Ben handled a very complex case involving my potential litigation against a major international corporation. After reviewing case law with the corporations attorneys, he was able to avoid lengthy and costly trial. I was pleased with his professionalism in all respects and feel it was extremely cost... effective. I would recommend Ben without reservation.

A lawyer that cares? (what?)

Lawyers are often a punchline, but Ben turns those ideas on their heads. Anything I had heard about lawyers led me to believe they are nasty, impersonal, charges-you-for-everything and at the end of the day not really fighting for your best interest, just your dollars. When I found myself in the s...tressful and consuming position of struggling with employer discrimination, contacting a lawyer at first seemed impossible. I didn't even want to talk to one. But I took a breath and got a (free) consultation. From that consultation onward (which went way longer than the 20 minute slot allotted), Ben proved over and over that he was personable. I'm an emotional person, and I don't really hide that. The highs and lows (and treachery) of litigation with your employer while still working there are so intense. I almost gave up a few times, and Ben listened to me again and again. He was very patient with my millions of questions, my uncertainties, my rants. He explained every single thing to me along the way and seemed more than happy to educate me about the muddled process. It was GREAT. Well, the situation was really stressful and terrible, but Ben was very supportive the whole way. There was one point in the process when I lost some trust. I read into some conversations, there were pieces of honest miscommunication. I had some not-so-great feedback. He sensed this immediately (totally in tune with his client) and encouraged me to come forward. He spoke with me on the phone for 45 minutes. I told him my feedback and he was AMAZINGLY receptive. He thanked me more than once, explained his piece and overall really took care of the professional relationship. At the end of the conversation, I told him it was only because he's so approachable and warm that I was able to give feedback at all (normally I'm kind of shy about that kind of thing). Hopefully I will never need his service again, but I know whom I'm calling if I do.
