Joseph Leo Bernwanger

I was given Joe's phone number from a local Howell, MI lawyer in May 2015. He was quick to meet with me (which I appreciated at the time), we signed a contract that he would take care of my case for $550. He was paid in full at that time. Sometime went on, I exchanged a few emails with him and all se...emed fine. Once, I was ready to file my case, Joe ignored my "ready to go" emails for close to a year if not longer, when I sent an email telling him I was going to contact the bar association, BBB and possibly file a small claims case, he all the sudden responsed that "all my other emails must have been going to his junk folder and he had recently started working for a firm and he would get back with me to see how he could get my case filed".... Months went by and nothing. Meantime I hired and paid another lawyer to file my case. I contacted Joe again by email about getting my money back because I no longer needed him for services, since I had to hire someone else. I received an email back that he would be sending me a refund check in 7 - 10 days, that was early June 2017. Now, Aug 25th 2017, still no return check, no contact from him and now my emails to him are bouncing back, my guess is that he has blocked my email address. I really was trying to give him a chance to make things right because I know how people can fall on hard times, but "blocked" emails were the deal breaker and now I will follow through and report him to the Bar association, BBB, and file a small claims case. Unfortunately, I would not recommend him or the firm he works for, If this is the type of people they employ, I don't care to do business with them.

Attorney Bernwanger is one great attorney he knows what he's doing ,very up to date, he's friendly easy to talk to and you understand what he is talking about, he works fast to get things done keeps you informed all the way what's going on you don't have to wonder,I would recommend him to anyone for ...anything, if I need an attorney again he would be the only one, Thank you once again

Joseph Bernwanger is one of the most committed attorneys I have ever worked with. He was a very hard worker and extremely good at keeping me informed. He made sure I understood all phases of my Divorce as well as my Bankruptcy. He gave me all the tools I required to make well informed decisio...ns. Joe was amazingly thorough and respectful. He always kept me focused on each step of the process which I considered to be quite a relief considering how nervous I was about my situation.
