That's as simply as I can put it - He absolutely saved my life. My ex tried to take my children. David did not let it happen. He told me at the outset that he wouldn't and he kept his word. Everybody told me, over and over again, that mothers always get custody in Indiana. I was terrified. Well..., apparently they don't if you hire David. Aside form saving my life and winning a VERY hard fought custody battle for my two young children, he became a friend along the way. I've never met a nicer guy and I was very intimidated by this process and didn't know what to expect. There were only a couple of lawyers I actually got a hold of and they were pretty arrogant and downright rude and just wanted to get paid first. He made everything very easy and very comforting. He's got to be the nicest lawyer around. EXCEPT when he got into the courtroom and caught my wife lying on the stand. Wow, that was something to see. He absolutely tore her apart. And he even told me at the beginning, "yes, i have a reputation for being aggressive but it isn't my job to pick fights as that only hurts my clients. I will keep the gloves on until they make me take them off." Man, did he mean that! My wife's lawyer immediately regretted making him take them off as he made it count! Just do yourself a favor - if you're reading this it is because you are looking for a lawyer. Stop reading and call him. Hire him and know you made the right choice. He'll make it easy for you as he returns every call the same day and will undoubtedly be the only lawyer to actually call you back. Thank you david. SIMPLY PUT, DAVID STEELE IS THE BEST DIVORCE LAWYER IN INDIANA!!! David was my last hope in a 20-month long ordeal where my ex willfully dragged her heels to complete the divorce simply because she knew I wanted to do it expeditiously. I needed someone who was totally no-nonsense, aggressive, and ef...ficient to bring closure to this so that both sides could escape this toxic situation and move on with our lives. In addition to dealing with this type of personality, I was also faced with an opposing attorney who appeared to endorse and embrace her using every legal tool available in order to drag out this case for as long as possible. When I hired David, he immediately made clear in no uncertain terms to the opposing side that he would not let this charade continue, and he didn't. In advance of and at my mediation, he demonstrated his constant pledge to me that he would have my back, and he totally did. He made sure that I was protected in every way, and I was COMPLETELY SATISFIED with the successful outcome of the mediation, and I finally have closure to this long nightmare that has haunted me. I came away with EVERYTHING that I desired. David has an INCREDIBLE talent for detail and strategy. Moreover, David is also the most compassionate attorney I've ever seen. My financial resources and retirement were totally savaged by having to support my ex, and I have a very very modest income due to the nature of my work and the recession. David recognized this, and was VERY gentle in his billing, making huge accommodations to assist my current financial plight. His billing was MORE THAN FAIR. I will NEVER forget his kindness and compassion. His principles, contrasted with what I witnessed with opposing counsel, are uncompromising in wanting to do the right thing and to do it with unwavering quality. His being on the state bar ethics committee is also supportive of that. Highly principled, fair, compassionate, yet when it comes to the legal battlefield (and yes it IS a battle!), you could not ask for a more skilled, committed attorney. Quite bluntly, after my absolutely positive experience with David, who's got to be this state's preeminent divorce attorney, I would be scared as hell if I was an attorney and saw David at the opposing table. I know that David is known for his excellent representation of his family law clients, and knowing Mr. Steele personally, I can tell you that this is very accurate. He is completely devoted to his clients and his cases and I know how much time he spends calling his clients in the evenings and on the... weekends. He is truly dedicated. And on top of all of that, he took the time to do legal work for a nonprofit company for which I work for absolutely free! Not only does he care about his clients and their cases, he is also truly dedicated to his community and helping those organizations that help others. He is a truly amazing person, both professionally and personally, and I am truly grateful for the work he has done for me and for the time that I have known him as an attorney. Many lawyers will try to say that they are this knowledgeable in the law, but only a few truly know the ins and outs of so many legal arenas. He is the best!

I really don't know where to start. David was the ONLY attorney who would even talk to me on the phone without wanting money first or being really rude and basically hanging up on me after 30 seconds. He called me back after I left him a voicemail. i didn't expect that after all the jerks I had tal...ked to. He talked to me for 70 minutes. I swear to God. At 6:00 at night. And never asked me for a dime for spending over an hour with someone who just called him. And at that point, I didn't know what to think. Was he a little crazy? Was he this desperate for a client...why would he go to such phenomenal lengths to help me? It wasn't until later, when I became a client, I realized that he is one of the biggest lawyers in Indy, if not the whole state. And once I got to know him and I saw what he did to my husband's attorney in court, it is ABSOLUTELY not a surprise to me. And trust me - he's exceptionally busy. He often called me as late as 10:00; i mean, he was always working and he still made me feel like I was his only client and that his whole company hinged on whether or not he won. And by winning I mean getting me custody of my two girls. I would have died if I lost them. I simply would have died. And he did all this while his phone, his receptionist's phone, his paralegal's phone and his associate lawyer's phones were ringing off the hook. And in court...I just don't know how to describe it. He was so much better at what he does than the other lawyer, it just made the man look silly. My husband was losing his sh%$ the entire time because it was so obviously not going his way and david just got cooler and calmer as it went on and that just drove him more nuts. Which then rattled his attorney. And David was unflappable.. He even started smiling really subtly at my husband at his table when no one was looking. it was straight out of a movie. trust me - he deserved everything david gave him. I don't know what else to say. I've never once logged onto the internet to review anything or post anything. But david got me my girls by working harder and smarter and honestly just caring more than anyone else. and he did it all for the original retainer as he promised he would try to do though he couldn't guarantee it. I paid $3,000 to start and while I don't know exactly how lawyers work, I know that at his hourly rate, we went WAY WAY over $3,000. But he knew I was absolutely broke because my husband left us high and dry and I had to borrow the money of my aunt and uncle. He always acted like I had money left on my retainer and I know it was because he didn't want to make me feel like a charity case. And the frustrating part is there was absolutely no way on God's earth I can adequately thank him. What do you do for someone who rescued your life? and in such a cool and almost fun way (he's absolutely hilarious, by the way - you will feel comfortable with him in about 30 seconds)? So I tried to write something on his website to at least try to say thank you but there's no way to thank him on his site but I found this link. Then I read all the other people he helped and it's just amazing. every one of us had the same experience. He seriously is the #1 divorce/custody lawyer in Indiana. There's no question. Does anyone else have reviews like this? Anywhere? David - I know you don't read these but if you ever do, know that I am crying as I write this and I will never be able to thank you enough. I contacted David to help me with a custody arraignment. He spent a great deal of time talking with me, and explained everything in detail. David was very knowledgeable on the custody laws, and helped me understand what my expectations should be as the non custodial parent. He was always available... when I called, even giving me his cell phone number. He even returned a call to me after he had dental surgery. David also gave me a discount with the retainer, which helped me tremendously. He cares about his clients, not the money. I am very happy with the work David did for me, and wouldn’t hesitate to contact him in the future.
