Criminal Defense 65%

I represent citizens charged with crimes ranging from traffic tickets to Death Penalty cases. I am a seasoned, experienced, and successful Trial attorney in this area. While the vast majority of criminal cases are resolved through Plea Agreements, my approach is not to force a Client to plead guilty instead of going to Trial. it's better to find out what the Client's goals are first and then adopt a strategy to accomplish that goal.

Personal Injury 20%

I represent people who are injured as the result of somebody else's negligence. Typically, these cases involve traffic crashes, medical negligence, slip/falls, dog bites, electrocutions, etc. While an insurance company might try to convince you that they will be "fair" in settlement, they always have an agenda and bottom line is settling that case for as cheaply as possible. That is exactly where an experienced PI attorney can make the difference.

Litigation 15%

I represent a mix of indivdual business owners and closely held corporations in disputes that end up in Court. Those matters typically range from breach of contract, collections, theft of trade secrets, etc. The trick in this kind of litigaiton is to keep an eye on the overall damages versus the cost of litigation. Getting into different Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR") can sometimes be an extremely cost effective way of solving the problem without breaking the Client's bank!

Trust him with my life

I had no idea how the legal process works. All I knew is that I was arrested and out on bond. Atty. DiMartino not only helped everything make sense, but he got my charges reduced, AND he constantly advocated for me. I refer him for everything.

"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Dennis since Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he was our SBA class president. Dennis has established a reputation amongst his peers as an aggressive, dedicated advocate for his clients. I have callled upon Dennis for expert referrals and advice. He has won many cases for his clients. I recall one particular case where his client was facing four life counts of rape involving a young child. Dennis told me how strong he believed in his client and how nervous he was knowing that if convicted his client would spend the rest of his life behind bars for crimes he did not commit. Dennis did a spectacular job and the jury acquitted his client of all chages! Simply awesome. Dennis is a zealous advocate, personable and has a great sense of humor. I am proud to have him as my friend and colleague."

"I would highly recommend Dennis for any criminal matter. Over the years, I have regularly called upon him for advice on my own criminal cases, to which he has always been available, attentive, and extremely insightful. He is very bright and a true talent in the courtroom, especially in front of jury."

Relationship: Friend

"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Dennis for 28 years, and in those years, he has exhibited an undying commitment to friendship, caring, professionalism, and integrity. God forbid a million times if I ever needed a criminal defense attorney, I would turn to my friend Dennis, who is so exceptional, that he is second to none and I can support that statement with numerous examples over the years. When my father passed away in 1985, during our first year in law school, it was Dennis who scooped me up to rescue me from the horrible darkness I was plunging into. Dennis deserves only the very best in life and you are blessed if you can call him "friend.""

"Dennis DiMartino is a principled and thorough advocate. I've heard this sentence more than once, to wit: "I've never been able to beat Dennis DiMartino." More importantly, however, Dennis has the kind of wisdom that comes with years of trials and negotiations, and he's provided me with his own keen insight in complicated cases in my own practice. It's a real privilege to be able to endorse him."

Suspension For Term issued in OH, 2010

updated on 10/01/2012

Suspended for term means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Dennis’s comment:

“I was disciplined for a personal matter that occurred as i was ending my first marriage. It did not involve a client, money, drugs, or anything else like that. I am embarrassed that I acted out of emotion and did something I deeply regret to this day. Most all the local Judges and lawyers agree that it had nothing to do with my abilities in the Courtroom as a Trial lawyer.”

Placed On Probation issued in OH, 2007

updated on 10/01/2012

Probation means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State monitors the lawyer's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Dennis’s comment:

“I did not work on the same pace that a Client wanted, who requested a full refund. As I had already devoted time on the case, including several trips to the prison and Courthouse, I could account for half the retainer and returned the other half to the Client's representative. They disagreed and pursued a Grievance. I was given a suspended sentence and continued representing Clients who needed an experienced, aggressive Criminal Defense attorney.”

Suspension Stayed issued in OH, 1994

updated on 10/01/2012

Suspension stayed means the attorney has been suspended, but that the suspension is placed on hold (and ultimately removed) if the attorney complies with certain requirements.

Dennis’s comment:

“I was a very young lawyer and didn't keep up with the work that was required on a case. I was reprimanded for my errors, which I deserved. I learned that if I was going to be a Trial attorney, I had to develop good systems to stay on top of the never ending caseload of Clients!”
