About Tad

Learn Tad’s areas of practice.

5
Practice areas
  1. Personal injury
    25%
What constitutes a personal injury? The common answer is anything that imposes bodily harm, of course, but the law defines a certain set of events that may qualify for legal consideration. These include auto accidents, motorcycle accidents and trucking accidents; injuries incurred via transportation such as trains, planes and boats; workplace injuries resulting from machinery or inadequate safety measures; and a variety of miscellaneous issues such as amusement park falls and dog bites.

  2. Car accident
    20%
If you or someone you love has been injured in a car crash in the state of Kentucky, you should consider your legal options. If you feel you weren’t at fault for the accident, don’t stand by and risk becoming another statistic.

  3. Nursing home abuse and neglect
    19%
If someone you love has been abused or neglected by a nursing home or assisted living facility that you entrusted your loved one with, you'll want to call today to figure out what your legal options are.

  4. Class action
    15%
Class actions are essentially similar to other legal action, but with one key difference: rather than one or two injured parties, class actions are comprised of large numbers of individuals who have suffered some sort of loss, usually economic. One of the common misconceptions about class actions in Kentucky is that they always result in an equally divided 'pot' of restitution. In fact, it is not usual for juries to assign different amounts to different victims depending upon their experience.

  5. Wrongful death
    10%
The term wrongful death has a number of legal definitions, and together these prescribe the full set of legally actionable fatalities. The most common by far is a death associated with an auto accident, including truck drivers and motorcyclists who have been the victims of a fatal collision. Wrongful death may also include acts of medical malpractice, including poor palliative care, nursing home negligence and defective medical devices.

  6. Trucking accident
    5%
Trucking accidents account for almost 10% of all the accidents that happen on the road today. When there is that much weight and sheer force behind a vehicle, any accident involving said vehicle will undoubtedly cause devastation.

  7. Brain injury
    3%
When involved in an accident or injury, if you have sustained damage to your head or brain, there may be more specific and unique rules that will ensure the compensation you deserve. Call Attorney Thomas immediately and stop worrying today.

  8. Defective and dangerous products
    3%
The list runs the gamut of medical emergencies, including poisoning, allergic reactions, internal injuries, slips, falls, broken bones, damaged vision or catastrophic head injuries. Call today at 502.473.9124 for a free case evaluation today.

Tad Thomas has been a trial lawyer for over 20 years. After graduating with honors from law school at Northern Kentucky University, he opened his own practice in Louisville handling criminal and civil cases. He quickly gravitated to the area of personal injury and complex civil litigation, an area where he could assist clients in their time of need.

In 2008, Mr. Thomas started a three year stint with the Office of the Kentucky Attorney General as one of two Assistant Deputy Attorneys General. In addition to handling high profile civil litigation for the office he was responsible for overseeing four divisions and all of the office’s civil litigation. These four divisions consisted of over 100 personnel including lawyers, staff and sworn law enforcement officers.

Mr. Thomas returned to private practice in 2011 and formed Thomas Law Offices in Louisville, Kentucky. Over the years, as Tad’s reputation and practice grew, the firm began expanding its reach beyond Kentucky. Today, the firm has grown to more than a dozen attorneys in four offices while handling cases across the country. Thomas Law Offices has offices in Chicago, IL. Columbia, MO. and Cincinnatti, OH.

In addition to making sure his firm provides quality representation to all of its clients, Mr. Thomas spends a great deal of time advocating for changes in laws to protect consumers and ensuring Americans’ Seventh Amendment right to jury trial is protected. Mr. Thomas is currently the President-Elect of the American Association for Justice, the nation’s largest organization for trial lawyers. Finally, education of his fellow lawyers is also important to Mr. Thomas who spends travels the country speaking at conventions and continuing legal education programs on a wide range of issues such as deposition and trial techniques, ethics and technology.

Professional yet personable!
We asked Tad to represent us in litigation against a major corporation regarding a product safety issue. We were very impressed with his professionalism, but also the fact that he treated us not just as a client, but as a friend. He provided us valuable advice along each step of the process with excellent judgment. He also showed great patience and helped us through a process that was completely foreign to us. We were eventually able to resolve the dispute with a settlement that we thought was very fair and to our satisfaction. We would not hesitate to recommend Tad Thomas to anyone in need of legal representation.

My experience
Provided great help with my case, easy to contact and communicate with. Was up front and honest with my options and gave realistic expectations. I was very happy with how my needs were handled. Many years later he still made himself available after hours for legal counseling and advice with quality referrals at no cost. Great lawyer! Highly recommended!

Awesome Experience
This was my first time being involved in a personal legal action. Mr. Thomas took the time to explain the process to me in detail and continued to do so throughout. The communication throughout was excellent and I was kept well informed of what was happening and what to expect. I was extremely impressed with his ability to maximize my claim while retaining the highest level of integrity and professionalism. I have no reservation recommending his services to my family, friends and coworkers. I would definitely use him again if necessary.

Tad's strongest assest is his integrity, which is matched by his legal expertise.
Tad Thomas has been with me through out my 3-1/2 year battle with the Depuy ASR Hip Implant Recall. He and his staff have been witness to the horrible ordeal of 16 surgeries and 33 dislocations that I have had. With each and every surgery, dislocation or staph infection, Tad reached out to see if there was anything he could do. He has visited me at the hospital and that speaks to the man's character. He truly cares for his clients. My case has been extremely complicated and arduous at best, but I know he is only a phone call away. And he returns the phone calls personally, In this day and age of technology, it is reassuring to know that your case is personal to him and he is there to talk with you when you need it. Having to have legal representation in one of the lowest points in your life is not easy, but I am so thankful that it was Tad's door that I walked into. I can only say that when I shook his hand at the beginning of this journey, he has held true to his word. The man is not only an extremely good lawyer, but he is a man of integrity.
