also known as Matt Wright
Having begun my legal career representing mega-inurance companies, I quickly realized many of these companies cared little about people, even if those people had suffered catastrophic, life-altering losses. That realization did not sit well with me. Things were made worse when an insurance company wanted me to find a way to avoid paying a mother for the loss of her unborn baby, when the loss of life was the company's insured's fault. Not paying the claim might save the company a few cents on their annual report to shareholders, but would prolong and exacerbate human suffering.
So, I decided to represent ordinary people instead of large companies. The decision has resulted in me having life-long friendships with those whom I represented. I hope that I have brought positive change to the lives of those clients and that we, together, have and will continue to effect positive change, making the world a safer and more livable place.

Terrible experience
Matthew never kept me updated on my case all my documents looked liked they were rushed with no effort. I just had a really bad experience with his firm and after 3 and a half years of working my case he decides to drop the case because he didn't want to spend the money to go to trial and some other...
While it's unfortunate that this person chose to post anonymously, I would be glad to address it offline, should you wish to let me know who you are. While there are many reasons not to proceed to a jury trial "not wanting to spend money" is not a reason. However, if there is no chance of winning a trial because evidence did not pan out the way we had hoped OR there is no insurance to recover (for example if the defendant did not have insurance) - OR the defendant has no assets to recover from, are all legitimate reasons why one may not want to continue to trial after the discovery period. Bear in mind that if a client loses at trial, he or she will be forced to pay the other side's costs and possibly their attorney fees which can run into the tens of thousands of dollars and could result in the necessity of filing bankruptcy for the client and leave them worse off than if the case had never gone to trial. There is a period in civil litigation called "discovery" where a lawyers seeks to gather evidence of the defendant's wrongdoing. Sometimes, the evidence to win at trial is just not there and that means the plaintiff (injured person) loses because they bear the "burden of proof". Clients can also neglect to share (or lie about) critical pieces of information with their lawyer, which can change the course of proceeding before trial. For example, I once took a case to trial early in my career where I had learned my client was drunk and on pain-killers and had not been forthcoming of that fact with me when I agreed to take their case. The client lost at trial because juries can find the injured person to be at fault. In that case, the jury did just that because my client was drunk and high and did not remember what happened. It is hard to prove a case under those facts. It is always a difficult decision not to go to trial, but one that ultimately is in the best interest of the clients, if they would have ended up worse off than before the accident happened.

Matt Wright vs. 2 trucking companies
Matt and his crew represented my uncle after a fatal car wreck my aunt was in loved in. Matt worked around the clock, as well as the other attorneys. Matt kept my uncle and I up to date on everything and was as nice, understanding, and sympathetic as anyone could ask for!!
"I've known Matt for many years and we have had the opportunity to work together on several different cases. "I endorse this lawyer. I met Matt this summer at The Trial Lawyers College that was founded by Gerry Spence. I found Matt's work ethic and his compassion to his clients are amazing . The trial skills that John developed at the college will serve any of his clients well. Any lawyer that is willing to spend three weeks working on their trial skills is worth consulting about their legal problem."

"Matt is a top-notch lawyer. He is smart, dedicated, thorough, and quick on his feet. I have watched him conduct various parts of a trial and his skills are excellent. If you have been hurt because of someone's carlessness and want top tier representation then call Matt. He wil devote himself to your case and to you."
"I highly recommend Matt. I had the pleasure of attending Trial Lawyers College with Matt and he is a great lawyer but more importantly he is a tremendous person. You will not find a more committed, honest and good lawyer anywhere."
"I met Matt when we attended the Spence Trial Lawyer's College for three weeks in July of 2011. I was lucky enough to be in Matt's mock trial group, and got to see him in action. Matt is a very talented trial attorney with all of the skills necessary to take a case to trial and win. Even more importantly, Matt values and cares for his clients tremendously, and because of that, will fight even harder for them to win. I would recommend Matt Wright to anyone looking for an attorney in his area."
"I had the opportunity to work with Matthew this summer and endorse him without hesitation. He is a truly gifted and dedicated lawyer."
