Carla M. Handy is an attorney practicing Consumer Bankruptcy Law in the Gadsden area since 1994 and is a shareholder in Bond, Botes & Handy, P.C. with two locations in Gadsden, Alabama, and Anniston, Alabama. Carla grew up in the Gadsden area and attended Emma Sansom High School. After graduating from law school and working for a law firm concentrating in oil and gas law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, she returned to her home town in 1994. She got her start as a consumer bankruptcy attorney in 1994 when the sole practitioner she went to work for in Gadsden turned over all his current bankruptcy cases to her in order to concentrate on his personal injury practice.

Carla can still remember her first Chapter 13 petition which took her one month to prepare for filing and was completely handwritten by her. Before opening Bond, Botes & Handy, P.C., Carla took a position with her mentor, Charlie Martin, where she learned the art of becoming a compassionate but zealous consumer bankruptcy attorney. She opened the Gadsden office of Bond, Botes & Handy, P.C. in December 2011. This was followed by another office in Anniston, Alabama, in March 2018. Carla has years of experience representing clients in consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases but also in bankruptcy cases filed under Chapter 12 for family farmers.

What I like best about my job
As a consumer bankruptcy attorney, you are generally catching people at one of the worst times in their lives. The best thing about my job is having a client leave with anxiety lifted off of their shoulders and hope in their heart that, financially, their lives are going to be better with the help we are able to provide.
