Relationship: Worked together on matter
I recently had the opportunity to work with Mr. Lewis when I brought a client of mine (charged with Sale & Possession of Cocaine) into his office for a consultation. Because my Client is not a U.S. citizen, I knew she would be "deportable" upon being "convicted" of these offenses. Since my practice is limited to the representation of those accused of criminal and/or traffic offenses, I do not have the training and/or experience to effectively advise a Client on the potential Immigration consequences of the various plea offers that we were negotiating with the State Attorney's Office. Aside from answering our many questions (and recommending some hopeful solutions that we can pursue), Mr. Lewis took the time to draft a letter to the State Attorney's Office (on behalf of my Client). Its worth noting that neither my Client, nor myself, requested that Mr. Lewis take the additional time to do this for us. He just did it. We were both impressed with his professionalism.
