Poor Communication and Lack of Preparation

I initially hired this attorney after being told that he would “have my back” and fight for me. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. The biggest issue I experienced was that I often felt like I was fighting with my own attorney rather than having someone advocating for me. Throughout m...y case, I repeatedly felt that he was unfamiliar with the details of my situation. Even when speaking with him about my case and appearing in court, I had to explain basic facts about my own situation to him. At one court appearance, for example, he did not even appear to know that I still had my driver’s license. I was also told that a letter had been sent to the prosecution in an attempt to have my charges dropped and to obtain documentation that could help support my case. I later learned that the documentation I was told had been submitted had apparently not been submitted. This was extremely concerning because I had relied on what I was being told about the work being done on my case. Communication was another major problem. My court date was postponed multiple times—roughly three to six times during my case—with little or no communication beforehand. On one occasion, I showed up to court for what I believed was my scheduled court date, only to find out there that the date had been pushed back again. This resulted in unnecessary time, travel, and expense on my part. My interactions with this attorney were also frequently argumentative. I found his communication style unprofessional and, at times, I felt that his temper and use of vulgar language were inappropriate when speaking with me. I also frequently received electronic communications containing basic spelling and grammar errors, which added to my concerns about the overall level of professionalism. I also met three other people dealing with similar charges and circumstances, and we were all charged significantly different amounts, ranging from approximately $6,000 to $13,000. I cannot speak to the details of their individual cases, but the difference in fees was certainly something that caught my attention. Overall, I felt that my case was handled with poor communication, inadequate preparation, and a lack of attention to important details. I did not feel confident that my attorney understood my case or that the work I was told was being done was actually being completed. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering hiring this attorney to do extensive research first and ask detailed questions about exactly what work will be performed and how communication will be handled. In my opinion, the level of professionalism and communication I experienced was unacceptable, and I would not hire this attorney again. I am also concerned about the way some of the attorney’s online reviews are presented and about comments I personally heard regarding changing or altering reviews. Because of that concern, I believe the appropriate professional authorities should review the situation and determine whether any rules or professional standards have been violated. My review is based on my personal experience with this attorney and my experience throughout my own case.

Stay Away

Michaels website exhibited DUI cases where his clients were clearly guilty yet got no DUI or was expunged. This was my first offense ever which I was actually trying to escape a situation for my safety. Never in trouble or charges of any kind, not even a parking ticket, now I have a record trying to... flea an unsafe situation, that will haunt me FOREVER.

Don't hire him!

One of the worse attorney you can get. You don't want to risk your DUI case with this guy. He will take your money and disappear on you. Won't give you any legal advice, nor would he show up for your case especially if you are outside Miami area. He will send his network attorney that have no clu...e about your case. You might as well request a public defender and you maybe better off.

Excellent Attorney

I hired Mr. Braxton for a DUI in Lee County, FL. He was very polite, always answered or returned phone calls, and was willing to do whatever was in my best interest. We ultimately decided to go to trial, and the state dismissed the case in its entirety.

Find another attorney to represent you

I hired Michael Braxton which cost $5500. I never met him in person, he sent other attorneys to attend my court appearances & it didn’t appear as if he cared about my case. I didn’t feel like he fought for me & my case. I ended up with a DUI conviction on my record for 75 years & all the other things... that come along with it. I literally feel with his representation on the case, that I shouldn’t have wasted the money hiring him as my attorney as the end result was the same as if I would’ve not used any counsel at all.
