Biography
John Leighton is a nationally recognized board certified personal injury trial lawyer. He represents people who have been injured and families who have lost loved ones due to the negligence of others.
Specializing in serious personal injury and wrongful death from car and truck crashes, medical malpractice, violent crime/negligent security, sex abuse, nursing home, defective products, plane crashes, cruise ships, resort and water sport incidents, he also handles legal malpractice and other complex civil litigation in all state and federal courts.
Mr. Leighton has obtained some of the largest verdicts and settlements in Florida, including recent verdicts of $49 million, $24.3 million, $24.1 million and $7.4 million. Some of these verdicts and settlements have been record-setting and award-winning.
His focus is on obtaining the very best result for his clients. As a trial lawyer, he brings to his clients the skills he teaches around the country to other lawyers. He has lectured and taught attorneys in over a dozen states, and has published books and articles on personal injury litigation and trial skills. As leader in crime victim rights, he serves as President of The National Crime Victim Bar Association and is the author of the 2 volume textbook Litigating Premises Security Cases (West, 2006), the most comprehensive treatise on litigating negligent security cases. Leighton also teaches crime victim advocates about the civil justice system and publishes in the field of negligent premises security and sexual abuse and assault. He is a Diplomate of Trial Advocacy by the National College of Advocacy and often teaches trial skills to trial lawyers throughout the country, including recently at Harvard Law School at ATLA's Ultimate Trial Advocacy Course, where he served on the faculty.

Excellent Attorney
Leighton Law represented me during a Medical Malpractice issue. The dynamics of the case were complicated and compounded by an extensive hospitalization however, Mr. Leighton and his firm were able to sort through a plethora of records- some incomplete- in order to establish culpability.
