Ms. Conan Knows the FL Board of Bar Examiners Process

I had a felony arrest when I was nineteen, a misdemeanor marijuana arrest also at nineteen, and treatment for depression. I did not include my felony arrest on my original law school application, but amended my law school application before starting law school. I did not include my treatment for depr...ession on my original Florida bar application. I called Ms. Conan after I started hearing comments and reading that Florida has the toughest character and fitness process of any state. When I called, Ms. Conan actually answered the phone and spent thirty minutes speaking with me before I even retained her. I retained her the next day and sent to her my Florida bar application and supporting documentation. Ms. Conan's review of my bar application was thorough - too thorough I originally thought, but this is exactly the level of thoroughness that the Board applies to its review of any application. Ms. Conan had many recommendations and questions regarding my application. Based on Ms. Conan's review and our conversation I submitted approximately 19 pages of amendments to my original Florida bar application. Initially I did not agree with some of the items Ms. Conan wanted me to disclose. But I did disclose those items, and during the investigative hearing it was clear that Ms. Conan was spot-on regarding what the Board wanted. Ms. Conan does an excellent job of anticipating questions that the Board will have. Yes, the process is painful and even kafkaesque, but Ms. Conan knows what she is doing. Because of her advice I went to my informal hearing with the Board well-prepared. Most important, however, is that Ms. Conan convinced me that I had to go into that Board hearing and answer questions with absolute candor. This is not an easy thing to do and does not feel natural, especially when you are being asked questions about the most shameful and hurtful experiences of your life. But as long as you make an effort to be as candid as you can, admit your mistakes and explain that you learned from them, you will do well. Ms. Conan will run you through a drill asking you the type of questions you can expect from the Board. And she will be sitting right next to you during the hearing - if you have one. Some closing comments. Ms. Conan is honest and operates at a level of integrity one does not often see. Ms. Conan does not judge you, instead she is honest, even if what she tells you is not what you want to hear. In terms of responsiveness, Ms. Conan usually answered the phone when I called. If I left a message she called back that same day. If I sent her an email, she responded within hours. When she is going to be out of town, Ms. Conan will let you know ahead of time. Ms. Conan is a consummate attorney whose practice focuses on admission to the Florida Bar. Applying to the Florida Bar is a serious and daunting process. Do yourself a favor and at least reach out to Ms. Conan - it could save you months in terms of finally being admitted.

Character and Fitness issues... CALL ELIZABETH CONAN...She is truly amazing!!

I was having problems with getting my clearance because past financial problems, as well as late disclosures to my law school about being on academic probation. The Florida Board of Bar Examiners sent me a notice for a hearing, and I thought for sure that my chance of being an attorney was over. Afte...r doing a Google search I found Elizabeth, and after reading all of her reviews I gave her a call. She took time out to talk to me, gave me the pros and cons of my case, and draft a plan of action. Elizabeth reviewed every document that was submitted to the Board and assisted me in amending answers. I corrected anything that was incorrect, and any answers that were vague I provided a more thorough response. By the time I got to the hearing there was nothing left to questioned. The meeting with Board was only a few minutes and weeks later I received my clearance, and I am currently practicing as an attorney. Elizabeth is truly amazing, and if you are having any difficulties with getting your bar clearance I recommend giving her a call... you will not regret it.

Client Review for Florida Bar Hearing

Ms. Conan did a great job on my case. I was unfamiliar with the Florida Bar hearing process and she guided me through so that during the hearing there were no surprises and I was able to emerge successfully. I would highly recommend.

A True Superhero

I am so thankful for Atty. Conan! I was not surprised to receive the dreaded Notice of Hearing letter. I have a somewhat sketchy looking past, so I knew that my previous bad mistakes were going to come back to haunt me. A classmate that had gone through the hearing process already gave me a phone nu...mber of the attorney that she used, so when I received the letter on that Saturday morning, my first thought was to call her attorney. After leaving a message, I did my own research and found Atty. Conan. I called her, left a voice message, and within 20 minutes she called back. ON A SATURDAY! She was so calming and kind that I knew immediately she was the one I needed! She was so patient with me, explaining the process step by step, answering all of my questions, and gently guiding me. The prep process for a Bar hearing can be grueling because it requires you to look at, document, and explain everything that you've ever done, some of which can be quite shameful. ATTORNEY CONAN NEVER JUDGED ME! NEVER! She recognized the changes that I'd made and she was supportive. With that being said, she never sugar coated anything. She never promised me any results and she never gave me false encouragement. She made sure to hold me accountable for my responsibility in preparing for the hearing, but she was doing it from a genuinely caring place. She was wise enough to know that even the documentation had to tell a story of positive change, and that no one could tell my story better than me. She made sure I told my own story - all of it. Her ethics were rock solid! She encouraged me to tell information that had not come up yet but could be possibly damaging later on, but she was so supportive that telling everything was empowering. Even in the hearing, when I was being grilled by the panel, Attorney Conan let me cry when I needed to cry, and she even held my hand during some tough questions. The best thing about Attorney Conan, in my opinion, is that she is a woman of faith. Her faith is so strong that she cannot help but be positive and her positivism is contagious. While going through the prep process I talked with several of my professors about the upcoming hearing. Several of them offered to give me a referral to an attorney that they have heard awesome things about. They were all talking about Attorney Conan! My Bar Prep faculty spoke so highly about her, too. I had the pleasure of meeting someone, by coincidence, who had worked with Attorney Conan many years ago. It was obvious that they really respected her work. Even at my Bar hearing, I was walking back to the waiting room and another person in the hallway stopped me to tell me that my attorney was awesome and that they knew that I was in good hands. I agreed completely! If you are in need of an ethical attorney for a Bar hearing - you need to make Attorney Conan your first choice. Make her your only choice! I know she was exactly who I needed in my corner. I am so thankful for her help - from her patience in the beginning, to her guidance and support throughout the process, and especially her call to personally deliver the news that I am now cleared by the Bar. She is absolutely a Super Hero to me!

Competent & Caring

When I first received the hearing letter I was mortified! I thought about going through the process alone but I know legal counsel would be more effective. Elizabeth told me more in our first conversation than I'd learned my entire 1st yr of law school with respect to the Florida Bar. She set deadlin...es and worked with my busy schedule to ensure all necessary documents & briefs were in early and accurate. I felt completely aware of what would happen when we entered the hearing and was able to stay calm and composed throughout the while ordeal. When we arrived, a few people knew her name and reputation I'd gather. I was cleared fairly quickly and I have no doubt that it was due to her great efforts in my case!
