I have used Richard twice now. Once for a divorce and the second time when my ex-wife tried to take my children away from me. This is the most confident, intelligent, hard fighting lawyer I met. And I sat with the best in Savannah during my interview process... Divorce and custody battles are extremely difficult in all aspects but especially emotionally. During the divorce and custody battle process Richard was confident, realistic and honest about what the he believed the outcome would be. I felt that I was 100% taken care of and that my best interests were the top priority and were being highly looked after in both cases. He made every effort to make the divorce as amicable as possible. I was impressed with his honesty, realism and ethics. Many times he advised me not to do something because the cost wouldn't be worth it! Richard looked out for me and what was in my best interest, not his pocket book. He is not a "scorch the earth" attorney. He wasn't looking to punish or destroy anyone. Just what was realistically fair. He was able to keep us out of court and the agreement we ended up siging was about as fair as it could be for both sides. The second time I used Richard was when my ex-wife attempted to take my children from me. She claimed the most heinous things possible. That I abused my children and molested my two little girls. It doesn't get any worse than this.... My ex-wife not only reported me numerous times to DFACs but was also able to convince multiple Doctors and therapists to do the same. Through the whole process Richard was again confident, honest, and realistic. Everything that he believed would happen happened. He fought hard when he needed to and left the unimportant things alone. Again Richard fought for me and my best interests, not his pocket book. Again many times he advised me not to do things because it would cost me money and would most likely not get me anywhere. The whole process was long and both emotionally and physically exhausting. However in the end I ended up with joint legal custody and nearly 50% physical custody. I get half of the summer, alternating every holiday, time on their birthdays and mine, a phone call everyday I don't have them, the list goes on. For being a male in Chatham country this is huge.... Richard did a phenomenal job and really I couldn't have asked for more. To say I am impressed and happy with Richard is a huge understatement. His ethics and morals are of the highest standard. He is extremely intelligent and confident in his game plan. More importantly he was right. There were a few times that I didn't listen to him, only for it to backfire on me. If I would have listened to him and followed his advice to the "T" there is a good possibility that I would be in an even better position. On top of all of this the staff that works in his office are absolutely amazing. Richard's paralegal Emily is hands down the best. She did so much work on my case often late into the night and last minute rush work because of my ex's attorney sending everything last minute. Her thoughts, abilities, and hard work are unparalleled. She absolutely deserves a ton of credit for the outcome of my case. Kathy the secretary was always a comforting site. You don't go into a lawyers office on good days.... But seeing her and talking to her always calmed me down and brought hope back even in the lowest of times. I forgot throughout the process of it all, how important it was to have counsel that would defend and fight for their client until Mr. Sanders represented me for the last chapter of a very long case.
