Previous Client

I used Attorney Howard Weintraub in 2002 for a case involving taxes/IRS and I would have saved $75,000 and did much better with a public defender. At the time I used Mr. Weintraub services, he didn’t have a clue or knowledge on/or about any area of tax laws.

Restitution

This lawyer fails to tell us we needed a attorney in New York he just dragged on our case trying to charge us for a million things and then taking $8,000 from us he never sent a statement about nothing

I have 150 reviews on AVVO, with 147 being perfect five star assessments. Of the remaining three reviews, two negative comments have been posted by this client, with the first in January, 2016 and the second being the above comment posted six days ago. (The third comment was posted in November, 2014 by an individual who never became a client and with whom I spoke for less than ten minutes) I am sorry that this client continues to be dissatisfied over the fee amount that both she and her husband paid for my services. However, this client and her husband both signed a detailed contract with my firm at the commencement of our attorney/client relationship, which clearly set forth the fee arrangement in their case and the scope of their representation by me. Since July, 2015, I have had correspondence with this client on different occasions wherein I explained to her that the fee paid to me was fully, honestly, and genuinely earned by me. As I am with all of my clients, I have been 150% above board with this client and her husband, and I have kept hourly/daily records of my time regarding my representation of them. I will continue to communicate with this client in an effort to attempt to resolve her concerns. If, however, she remains dissatisfied with the fee that she and her husband paid to me pursuant to their contract with me, resolution of this issue should be sought by this client in the judicial forum, as in my opinion, AVVO is not the appropriate medium within which to try to resolve this issue.

HOWARD WEINTRAUB AND BENJAMIN ALPER WERE SENT BY GOD TO HELP ME!

In September of 2014, I appeared in Fulton County State Court to answer a calendar call on my case. I was being charged with DUI and I have had 3 prior DUI convictions over my lifetime. I am 49 years old. My case had been continued by Judge Eady and the prosecutor for me to hire an attorney to rep...resent me. When Judge Eady called my case I stood up and when the prosecutor asked where my attorney was I stated that I had not retained an attorney, even though my case had been continued more than once for me to hire an attorney. The prosecutor became upset and stated to Judge Eady that she felt I was playing games by seeking continuances to have an attorney and then coming to court without an attorney. The Courtroom was completely full of defendants and their lawyers. There must have been 100 cases that day and maybe over 25 lawyers in the courtroom. Judge Eady asked me in front of the packed courtroom why I hadn’t hired an attorney when I had been given several continuances to hire an attorney. I answered that I couldn’t afford to hire an attorney as I had been going through a terrible emotional time in my life due to the suicide death of my teenage daughter that had occurred just a few weeks before the court date. At that moment a miracle happened!! One of the attorneys, who was sitting in the jury box which was full of attorneys appearing that day in court, stood up and said “Your Honor, Howard Weintraub, nice to see you again. I am here on my case that is on your calendar but after hearing what this gentleman has just stated, my heart goes out to him and his tragic loss and I announce that my partner, Benjamin Alper, and I will represent him pro bono, and not seek any compensation for our services.” Judge Eady thanked Howard for taking my case for fee and Howard then came over to me, hugged me in front of the packed courtroom and took me outside into an adjourning conference room to talk with me about the passing of my daughter and the facts of my case. Oh my God, I could not believe what was happening! Mr. Weintraub was sent to me by God! Now let me tell you what Howard and Ben (his partner) did for me. Howard and Ben met with me the next day and reviewed my case with me. Due to an oversight, the Department of Drivers’ Services had suspended my license. Ben contacted the Department of Drivers’ Services on my behalf and got my license reinstated that day! Given the nature of the charges and my past history, the prosecutor initially demanded that I serve 10 days in the Fulton County Jail. I decided to just take my lumps and move on with my life and do the time. However, on the day of Court, Ben spoke to the Judge and the prosecutor and got them to drop all of the jail. Another miracle! These guys are great! I cannot thank Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper enough for what they did for me. Howard and Ben are the two most compassionate people I have ever known. It is a privilege to have Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper represent me. And they did so for free and got a great result! God bless you Howard and Ben. Please hire Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper to be your attorneys.

stay away

He seems like a nice man but he extended our case for over a year & nothing came of it we had to hire a new attorney & in 4 months if everything was taken care of and it all came out great our new lawyer did not try to take all our money it was half the price & the eventual outcome after only four mo...nths was great mr. Weintraub just let it go on and on and on and on and in the end did nothing except charge us a lot of money I would let you publish my name but he would try to find a way to sue me for something stay away from this attorney

The Internet provides people with a productive forum for sharing genuine information, including commenting upon the quality of services they receive from professionals such as attorneys. Unfortunately, the Internet also enables an individual to post false and misleading statements about someone, hiding behind the wall and protection of anonymity. It is impossible for any attorney, including me, to respond to an anonymous posting attacking his services. I do not even know if this comment is from an actual client. Nonetheless, contrary to the content in the comment, I can unequivocally state that throughout my 31 years of defending individuals, I never have "just let [my client's case] go on and on...and in the end did nothing". In this regard, everything that I do for any client is fully documented and, if I knew the identity of the writer of the above comment (assuming it is an actual past client), I can fully support herein, or in any other forum, everything that I did for this client. Also, I can fully establish herein, or in any other forum, that every dollar of the fee charged to this client was appropriately earned. I also can unequivocally state that my fees are extremely reasonable and totally in line with fees being charged by other attorneys with experience and qualifications similar to mine. Also, I clearly and definitely state that I never have charged any client even one dollar more than the agreed-upon contractual fee entered into between the client and me. As to another attorney supposedly obtaining a result more quickly than what was transpiring during my representation of this supposed client, I cannot begin to accurately address this statement without the disclosure of the client’s identity and receipt of information regarding the progression of that client’s case. What I can say, however, is that I give 150 percent of my time, experience and expertise to each and every client’s case. Every other client review on this site supports what I am saying herein. If the comment is written by an actual former client, I am sorry that this anonymous client was unhappy and did not feel able to address his/her dissatisfaction directly with me, rather than posting an after-the-fact anonymous review. The comment ends with the claim that the writer is electing to remain anonymous because, if I knew his/her identity, I would "sue [the writer] for something". As the writer surely knows, truth is an absolute defense to being sued for libel and slander. Therefore, if what he/she has written about me is true, I would not have any basis to sue that person. Indeed, the writer's concern about me suing him/her, clearly demonstrates the falsity and misleading nature of this comment.

Potential Federal Problems

HOWARD WEINTRAUB AND BENJAMIN ALPER ARE PHENOMENAL ATTORNEYS I am the owner of a business that is highly scrutinized by both Federal and State of Georgia regulatory agencies. It is my obligation to be fully aware of the morass of regulations, wherein a knowing violation of a rule can expose me to... both civil penalties and a criminal prosecution, that could place me in prison. Last year I found myself in a situation wherein it may have been deemed by federal government attorneys that I had violated a regulation involving my business. Although I truly believed that the regulation did not apply to the situation I had been involved in, I nonetheless realized that government lawyers could conclude otherwise. Therefore, I called Atlanta criminal defense lawyer Howard Weintraub. Over the past several years, I had been Howard’s client for civil matters and he always accomplished successful resolutions of the particular matter. There was no doubt that Howard Weintraub and his partner Benjamin Alper were the go-to attorneys for this potential criminal prosecution. After calling Howard, as is his usual and customary style, Howard and Ben immediately jumped into the case. After conferring with me to obtain a detailed understanding of the facts, Howard and Ben researched the federal and state statutes and regulations and they decided that I had not violated any laws. Howard and Ben then very quickly decided to confront the issue head on with federal government attorneys. They therefore brought the issue and my conduct to the attention of the federal government officials rather than waiting for the officials to perhaps someday notify me that I may have violated the law. A gutsy strategy to say the least, but one that I wholeheartedly endorsed as I was innocent of any knowing wrongdoing. The strategy worked brilliantly and I received a clean bill of health from the government. I cannot thank Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper enough for their incredible representation of me. Although their services came with a financial cost to me, Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper are worth every dollar of their fee! I highly recommend Howard Weintraub and Benjamin Alper to anyone in need of highly gifted, aggressive and extremely dedicated lawyers who will fight to protect their clients. Thank you again.
