We are a boutique practice specializing in fiduciary law, which include wills and estate planning, elder law, probate and trust administration, and estate-related litigation.
Memberships and Offices
Tanner is a member of the Georgia State Bar and is admitted to practice in all Georgia and Alabama courts. He has served as a member of the American Bar Association, the Georgia State Bar Fiduciary Law Section, the Board of Directors of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, the LaGrange Chamber of Commerce, the LaGrange, Georgia, Lions Club.
Achievements
Tanner was Executive Editor for the nationally distributed Journal of Intellectual Property Law in 2005 and 2006. He was the recipient of the Hughes Spalding full-tuition scholarship to attend law school at the University of Georgia, where he graduated with honors. Tanner placed among the top 16 finalists of somepants in the 2004 Russell Moot Court Competition at the University of Georgia School of Law.
Tanner has published and spoken extensively on the topics of estate planning and probate law.
Education and Background
Tanner graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law, a top-tier institution, recently ranked 12th in the nation among public law schools by U.S. News and World Report. His coursework concentrated on business law and included such subjects as corporations, corporate taxation, closely held organizations, and business negotiations.
Prior to law school, Tanner worked in management at Athens First Bank & Trust Co. in Georgia. He received an undergraduate degree magna cum laude in German and International Trade from Clemson University. During college, Tanner studied abroad in Trier, Germany and Lyon, France and worked at Credit Suisse Banking in Basel, Switzerland. He is fluent in German and Romanian and conversant in French. He is the proud husband of Julia Pittman, Ph.D., and a father of three.
