Do not hire!

Hired to represent my brother in a robbery case. False promises, terrible communication, and found out that he was let go from firm. Will promise the world and sells himself appropriately, but underdelivers. Extremely poor communication skills! John assured my family that his client would be well rep...resented, but that was not the case. Do not be fooled! Do not hire!

Weak

Hired for divorce case in 2012 that involved custody of a 1 1/2 year old. Although prompt with returning phone calls his performance was very disappointing. I provided proof of the ex's drug use and compromising my sons safety. Pretrial comes and I'm told that the judge agreed to all terms provided b...y my ex's attorney which basically ended up allowing joint physical and joint legal custody. Duncan's response was " it's just a pretrial." I was so shocked and let him know I was dismayed especially with the evidence I provided. I questioned if he submitted all of my evidence and again he repeated " it's just a pretrial." I ended up seeking different representation right after the pretrial. Needless to say my new attorney resubmitted the custody agreement and visits were changed to supervised which later ended up not allowing any visits with the ex.

The reason people do not trust lawyers

After having a minor incident in the parking lot of a gas station, I was charged with leaving the scene. I never denied anything, I was completely honest. I talked to Mr. Duncan and he sold himself quite well. He had me completely convinced that everything would be ok. The reason I hired a lawyer, w...as that it was imperative that I didn't lose my CDL. Everything started off as decent as could be expected. One day, I called his office to talk to him, after not hearing from him for months. It was only to find out that he was no longer with that firm. I think that this is pretty important information, yet I was not notified of this change. Several months go by, as I'm leaving messages for him to contact me and I stopped by his new office location. When I went to his new office location, the receptionist informed me that he's very rarely, if ever, there in the office. I tried emailing him & the receptionist sent messages to him on my behalf - after many times of seeing me, she asked I do not come up there anymore. So, communication is problematic with Mr. Duncan, to put it very mildly! ... He finally calls me one day (he must have grown tired of my relentless pursuit) and describes a plea deal that he had worked out. I agreed to the terms of this agreement. However, the next day, court day, everything changed! Everything he'd assured me of just the day before, was not what happened at all. I wonder if I'd been better off, or in the same situation, not even having a lawyer. The ruling I received seemed as harsh as though I hadn't had representation (apparently, I really didn't have an attorney fighting for me that day at all). This was my first offense, and they knew suspending my CDL (for a year no less) would cost me my job. Mr. Duncan, with his lack of representation, cost me my livelihood. I do NOT recommend this lawyer to anyone! *If the guidelines are clear on this type of case and this was the only outcome, he could have been upfront with me from the beginning. But no, he was very convincing that everything would work out in my favor. Waste of time & huge waste of money! I'm sure after reading this review, Mr. Duncan will find time in his hectic schedule to offer his rebuttal or denial of everything I've said. But I assure you, everything I have said is completely true. God bless & take care.

The best!

I hired John to represent me after I received a ticket for "failure to yield to a funeral procession." John was very kind and knowledgeable about all things law. Not only was he highly professional, but he was easy to talk to and took my opinion into account. He dealt with this matter in a timely man...ner and kept me up to date every step of the way. I would most definitely recommend John to a friend and would hire him again!
