Very nice but dropped the ball
I hired Loretta to represent me in a contempt case involving my retirement we could have solved the issue before going to court but she was no match for the ex wife and lost so bad in court and I had to pay ex-wife lawyer, Loretta felt so bad for me she offered to represent me without pay, but we nev...
Keith, I hate the outcome of your contempt case, but you had painted yourself into a corner that no one could get you out of. The motion for contempt was filed alleging you refused to sign a QDRO as directed in your divorce. Based on your account of the story, I went to court fully prepared to argue that you had not refused to sign but had simply needed additional information to understand the document prior to signing. When your ex-Wife's attorney produced another very respected attorney (who had drafted the QDRO) as a witness, and he testified to the volume and the very foul language you used in announcing in his office in no uncertain terms that you would not sign the QDRO, a siber tooth tiger could not have saved you from a finding of contempt. When there is willful contempt, the court almost always orders the party in contempt to pay for the other party's attorney fees. With your agreement, your wife got the house in the divorce. I did not represent you in that action. I told you repeatedly that by law the court could not change the disposition of assets in a contempt action but you insisted on filing that motion anyway. I went to great effort and expense to get your ex served but she evaded the sheriff's office, and you could never give me a specific time and place where she would be to send a private process server. If we had had a hearing, the court may have found her in contempt for failing to pay the mortgage, but I am certain that particular judge would not have ordered her to give the house back to you even to save it for your children.
