I am in the process of filing a Bar grievance against Mr. Debord. He was hired to defend in a basically simple criminal case, and counter with malicious prosecution. He missed essential meetings with me and vital witnesses, failed to timely prepare for proceedings and file motions as agreed. He then ...
8/29/2018 Update: This reviewer obviously did confuse me with another attorney. No one has contacted my office requesting a refund for any case I've handled. No bar grievance has been filed against me. If I can be of assistance to this reviewer, then I invite you to contact me at [email protected]. You can also call (770) 479-1426. If I'm not available, please ask to speak with Mike Bray. 2/29/2018 Response: I have no idea who left this review. The facts and circumstances described do not resemble any current or past case I have handled. I have no clients who have requested a partial or full refund, and I have not been reprimanded by a judge in any case. I've never demanded payment from a client beyond what was agreed to. Either this person has confused me with another attorney or this comment is libelous. It should be removed.

DEBORD INTENTIONALLY DID NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ME WHICH RESULTED IN A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE... A CONVICTION. HE DID NOT ALLOW ME TO ASSIST IN MY OWN DEFENSE. HE CLEARLY DID NOT POSSESS LEGAL KNOWLEDGE FOR PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS CLIENT ILLNESS, NOR DID HE USE VALUABLE WITNESSES AND EVIDENCE. ...
This review was left by an individual I was appointed to represent when I accepted appointed criminal cases. I was the third attorney appointed to represent her because the first two could not deal with her. I wish she could better remember the facts and circumstances surrounding the excellent plea deal she freely and voluntarily accepted in open court. She entered a no contest plea and received a suspended sentence. This information is verifiable in the clerk's file, Cherokee County State Court Case No. 15M1963. I was often asked to take appointed cases involving defendants who had "fired" two or three previous appointed attorneys. I worked very hard to achieve the best result possible while providing compassionate and understanding representation. I considered it my duty to accept appointments to difficult cases and to see them all the way through. I did not shy away from doing so, even though she did not hire me and I did not choose to represent her. I performed my duty to the best of my ability, and the outcome was favorable.

"I have been fortunate to be able to work with Cory on many cases over the last several years. When I made the decision to start my own law practice Cory was the first person in the legal community I reached out for advice. Cory is the small town lawyer that you want to have on your side. He has a great understanding of the law and the ability to interact with prosecutors and Judges like nobody else in the community."
"I can't say enough about Cory. Due to his sharp sense of humor and good-natured spirit, he is loved by everyone in the legal community. This not only translates to excellent results for his clients but I'm sure makes for a most pleasant experience along the way. Beyond his great personality though, Cory is nothing short of superb at the practice of law. His knowledge and abilities are boundless. I recommend him whole-heartedly."
"Cory and I worked together as prosecutors for four years. Cory is an excellent attorney who has a comprehensive grasp of the law. Highly recommended!"
"Corey is an exceptional advocate for his clients. I work with him on cases in Cherokee County and he is a consummate professional. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a very thorough professional. He is a pleasure to work with and is a very fine attorney."
"Cory was an Assistant District Attorney who worked for me while I was the elected district attorney for the Appalachian Circuit. He is an extraordinarily talented attorney who cares about his clients. He is experienced in everything from serious felony cases to dui's. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing legal assistance in North Georgia."
"I endorse Cory without hesitation. He is hardworking and thorough, and his experience in numerous areas of the law make him one of the most well-rounded attorneys in Georgia. If I had a friend or family member that needed legal representation, I would absolutely refer them to Cory."
