BEWARE!!!

If you are looking for a family Attorney that will have empathy and compassion for your specific family case I would not recommend Attorney Hackett. Unfortunately I only spoke with Attorney Hackett one time for 5 minutes. I have never met her, nor explained my legal needs or expectations to her. ...Whenever I did reach out I got an email that she was busy ( read old complaints from 2010-2013 still true to this day). I mainly conversed with Kevin which he wasn’t helpful because he is not allowed to provide legal advice. I anticipated paying under $2,000 for my specific needs and I ended up paying over $4,000 dollars, I was asked to sign another retainer after those two documents were completed,. Kevin helped me complete my Discovery and interrogators ( which they said I have to do in their office ). I was presented with a contempt order for the other party but i found out after a month that it wasn’t filed through the court therefore my contempt was useless. When I went to the court hearing I also found out from the judge that I was supposed to sue the plaintiff not write a contempt order. Attorney Carrie Hackett’s lack of legal advice or knowledge in my case caused my family and myself a lot of emotional distress and we are still suffering to this day trying to recover. I could name a lot more discrepancies but I hope this gets my point across. If you do choose to use this firm ask a lot of questions and make sure you know what you want and need for your case.

Non-Responsive

I contacted Ms. Hackett and scheduled a consultation based on the immediate need for an experienced family law attorney. She was helpful during the consultation and immediately sent me a request for a retainer payment. I let her know several times that I have decided to hire her, but had a few ques...tions before providing payment in order to make me more comfortable with the process. She never responded. Unprofessional and disrespectful. Buyer beware.

If I Could!

I have no doubts of Ms. Hackett capabilities and experience, though I have big question marks regarding my representation in a final hearing in a custody case, despite the fact that we where in agreement it is purely I supplied her with the all necessary information and official supporting documents ...and backups. Surprisingly, on the hearing date, roles were reversed, so I am the one who has been interrogating by the opposition, and also here where my question began starting by falling in submitting and using the legitimate documents I had supplied her with previously, up to interrogated the defendant! At, this moment It is my pure opinion that I would have done better representing myself. In order to avoid any misinterpretation, the case was reinstated and the opposition case was dismissed from the court with the same documents and evidence.

It is unfortunate that I cannot respond more fully to this post or to this particular client as it is anonymously posted and I do not recall any custody hearings where I have represented a client with the outcome described here. That said, I welcome whoever posted this anonymous comment to contact me directly so I can address his/her concerns directly. I highly value the responsibility I am given in representing each client and it is important to me that each client knows that I am prepared, strategic, knowledgeable about the law, and have their best interests in mind. This complaint has not been brought to my attention in any manner prior to this AVVO post. I am truly disappointed that I have to respond to this post and I believe that I thoughtfully and effectively represent each of my clients and deeply care about their individual cases and interests.

Waste of Money & Time

A recent child custody & visitation case led me to needing a lawyer for the 1st time. Carrie Hackett was the 3rd lawyer I met with before selecting an attorney to represent me. Big mistake! Out of the 3 lawyers I met with, she was the only one who expected me to make a decision at that time and pa...y for the services up front. That should have been a red flag. She quickly swindled $1250 from me upon meeting with her. At first, I was impressed by her. However, that would be the last time I would actually speak with her. In a 2 month time span, I contacted her office more than 10 times and she NEVER returned a single phone call. I had 2 court dates, both which were continued; thank God b/c she didn't even show up to court. Her paralegal informed of the 2 court dates only 2 days before the date. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Bar Association. Save your money. She will not keep you informed or return any of your phone calls.

violation of probation

I was looking for a good lawyer to represent me in court for violation of probabition, and some one told me about hackett. I believe that she was going to be a good lawyer for my case but, on my first court date Carrie hackett did not come instead Ashley Wine did. Ashley did not fight for my case lik...e she need to, so the judge put me in jail for about 3 months because of this. I did not get out of jail because of her, On my next court date Carrie Hackett came to my court date and she said everything she needed to say to defend me, she rufuse 3 times to not answer the judge questions and made the judge mad, so he put me in jail again for a month. I was very upset that these people who call themselves lawyer would do this, you should already know what to say,but she didnt and she's the reason i had to go to jail twice. This was a very painful and stressful situation for me and my family. I feel like hackett wine are not good lawyers at all it's only about the money. please don't let this be you.

"I strongly endorse Carrie! Carrie and I were on opposite sides of a case not too long ago. We managed to settle a contentious case at mediation. This is never possible unless the other attorney is knowledgeable about the law, the facts of the case and the personalities. We settled the case because of Carrie's superb legal knowledge and skill. I would gladly work with Carrie in the future. If you are seeking a good domestic attorney, you will be in good hands with Carrie."
