The Right Man for the Job

Matt did an outstanding job representing me before an Army separation board. He was extremely well prepared and was in constant contact with me prior to the board to make sure we were on the same page. Matt did extensive research and truly went above and beyond to defend me, resulting in a vote to ...retain me by the board. Matt Barry is a true professional and he really cares about the people he represents. If you are facing disciplinary action by the military, Matt Barry is the best defense lawyer for you and your family. Don't hesitate to call Matt and let him help you save your military career!

SSG Army

Matt did a great job coaching me through and helping me respond to receiving an article 15 for extramarital conduct. I wasn’t proud of what I had done but Matt was understanding that everyone makes mistakes and helped me lay out the facts of everything that transpired to my chain of command. The resu...lt was that I received 45 days suspended punishment and the article 15 wasn’t filed in my OMPF. Matt is a smart and capable lawyer and a great ally to have in your corner when the going gets tough.

GOMOR

Prior to speaking with Attorney Barry, I was fairly certain about the lawyer I wanted to retain. After contacting several attorneys, I was exhausted from researching and was on a time crunch. I thought I would reach out to one last attorney for good measure - which is when I found Attorney Barry. I c...ontacted him on Thanksgiving Day where I received almost an instantaneous reply. After speaking with him over the phone, I was completely wowed by his immense care for my situation and confidence in a positive outcome. I knew from that conversation, I had received clarity. He was the best, and most obvious, choice. My GOMOR served as an extreme punishment for a vague and complex situation. This did not intimidate Attorney Barry - on our first phone call, prior to even being retained, he outlined his plan of action which was extremely thorough and ultimately successful. He truly invested in my situation, maintained excellent communication throughout the process, and went above and beyond in every way to best ensure that intended permanent GOMOR was locally filed. Attorney Barry's expertise, care, and critical thinking is unrivaled. If you are in a situation where there seems to be no way out - I strongly encourage that you retain Attorney Barry. He will work tirelessly until justice is won.

Hire Mr. Barry NOW! No words could ever fully desrcibe this incredible lawyer

SSG with 14 years of service General Court Martial Violation of UCMJ Article 92, 107 and 121 (Larceny) I was given my charge sheet by my command and was referred to a General Court Martial and was told I was facing 36 years. I have never been in trouble before and had no idea what to do or who t...o turn to, at this point I couldn't trust anyone. Mr. Barry was referred to me so I contacted him and the very next day he made the time to meet in person and he also came to me. After meeting I hired Mr. Barry and he literally went to work on my case right away! Mr. Barry always kept me informed every step of the way and every decision was made with my knowledge and nothing was "sugar coated" very upfront and honest. I could call, text or email and always get a quick same day response. My case was very complex that dealt with larceny of property involving the government purchase card and Mr. Barry spent numerous of hours researching and becoming very educated on the Army's supply program to give me the best defense. Mr. Barry having this much involvement showed me he truly cared. Mr. Barry NEVER stopped fighting for me! During trial I was amazed by his attention to detail and how he strategically defended my case, I never doubted or not trust him during this process. Not only did he keep me informed he also kept my military lawyer informed and involved in my case giving me the strongest most knowledgeable defense team!! On ALL charges I was found NOT Guilty!! Mr. Barry literally saved me, my family and my career. I could never thank him enough. If you care about your future and you want the best possible outcome in your case, Hire Mr. Barry!

A Lawyer, and Leader!

Matthew Barry Is more than just a lawyer, he is a veteran, brother, and a leader. My situation was very complex, and dated. I had taken my status as a veteran, and buried it deep, and walked away from that life. I had dealt with the embarrassment of a unfaithful spouse, on a large scale within my ch...ain of command, and an even larger scale investigation due to the members involved, allegations, and the controversy that erupted I was embarrassed, and decided to leave the military as quick as possible using a chapter that would live me with an other than honorable discharge. I was advised poorly years ago, and decided there was no hope in pursuing my benefits or my dignity. I contacted Mr. Barry via phone call after my spouse had vetted Mr. Barry’s web site. I had still felt no hope, or promise that a lawyer would help after being advised so poorly, and financially drained by previous counsel . I picked up the phone and called, and to my surprise I was immediately connected to Mr. Barry on his cell phone. Mr. Barry was extremely friendly, understanding, and was willing to meet immediately. Mr. Barry offered to meet me where I felt comfortable, and set up a time for our first meeting. My first impression of Mr. Barry was that he truly understood my circumstances, and looked at it through the eyes of soldier first, and a lawyer second. From the moment Mr. Barry took my case he was involved, and proactive in helping me obtain records. Mr. Barry made himself available, and communicated with me regularly offering his complete and honest opinions, and suggestions on how to handle my case. Mr. Barry completed my documents, and had them ready for review and sent off in an extremely timely manner. Mr. Barry not only built my case, he built my confidence back, and made me once again proud to have served, and helped me overcome a years long battle, and gave me confidence that something could be done. Mr. Barry has not only helped me as a client he has helped me as a person, and I recommend him to all veterans seeking assistance.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
