Drinking, GOMOR

I was issued a GOMOR for drinking and subsequently driving and crashing the government rental into a ditch. I passed the field sobriety test however, my command had already been notified. I’m in a national guard unit so the culture here is a little interesting. Nevertheless, Attorney Barry compiled a... strong, well-written response picking through all the facts. He was very detailed, and thorough. He looked at my case holistically and provided a good strategy. I hope to never be in this situation again, but I would recommend or choose him again if I needed. Thank you Attorney Barry

Outstanding Representation and a More Favorable Outcome-Air National Guard

I hired Mr. Barry during one of the most difficult and stressful periods of my 30-year military career. I was facing a two-stripe demotion based on allegations that had been investigated through a Command Directed Investigation and ultimately found to be unsubstantiated. Despite that finding, I wa...s still facing an action that could have had a significant impact on my military career and retirement. I knew I needed an attorney who understood military law and would take the time to look at the entire situation. Mr. Barry did exactly that. He took the time to understand my case and conducted his own thorough review. Most importantly, he interviewed multiple people who had not been interviewed during the original Command Directed Investigation. His willingness to dig deeper and gather information that had previously been overlooked made a significant difference in my case. Ultimately, I received a much more favorable outcome than what I was originally facing. I am extremely grateful for Mr. Barry's representation and the work he put into my case. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any military member who finds themselves facing a serious situation and needs an attorney who will take the time to understand the facts and fight on their behalf.

Outstanding Preparation for My ROTC Height and Weight Board

I hired Barry to help me prepare for my ROTC disenrollment board regarding height and weight standards. From the beginning, he took the time to understand my case, explain the process clearly, and prepare me for each step. His knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail gave me confidence dur...ing a stressful and uncertain situation. Although an attorney cannot speak on a Cadet’s behalf during the board, Barry made sure I was fully prepared to represent myself. He helped me organize my evidence, prepare my witnesses, and clearly explain the circumstances surrounding my height and weight. His preparation ensured that the board received a complete and accurate account of my case. Barry communicated clearly, answered my questions, and made sure I understood my options. I am grateful for his guidance and support. I would strongly recommend him to any service member or Cadet facing an administrative board or other military legal matter.

Helped me get my discharge upgraded

Attorney Barry and his PL Jennifer are both great, professional and extremely knowledgeable. I served just under 19 years and received an administrative discharge. Attorney Barry was able to help me upgrade my discharge to honorable which allows me to transfer my time into federal job. He is also lea...ving no stone unturned as he and Jennifer are looking for options to try and help me get some sort of retirement. This process is overly complicated, long and confusing just like anything else with the government. Lawyer up, it’s worth it when something this important is on the line. It’s hard to find a good and honest attorney and I can tell you Attorney Barry is both good and honest. It took several tries and different board and it has taken a couple of years. Attorney Barry and Jennifer both put quite a bit of work into this and not once tried to squeeze or juice me for more money as the time dragged on as so many other lawyers have a habit of doing. The benefits I will receive down the road due to my discharge upgrade will far exceed the amount that I paid for attorney Barry. Great value, great representation, lawyer up!

Exceptional Representation in an Uncommon Case

I can’t thank Matthew Louis Barry enough for his outstanding representation. Before the QMP board even met, he was able to get the entire QMP action removed from my records. His knowledge, professionalism, and persistence made all the difference. After I informed my commander that I had retained M...atthew, the QMP action against me gradually disappeared. While I can’t say exactly why, the timing spoke for itself. Throughout the process, Matthew’s preparation, professionalism, and ability to identify weaknesses in the Army’s case gave me confidence that I had the right attorney on my side. If you’re facing a QMP or another complex military administrative action, I highly recommend Matthew Louis Barry. His representation had a tremendous impact on my career, and I’ll always be grateful for everything he did. Plus he’s never in a bad mood when you talk to him!

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
