Solicitous and exceeded my expectations

Matthew Berry was the attorney I sought to help me with an investigation. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable causing a favorable outcome for my case. He immediately recognized and understood my side of the story while also walking me through the unfamiliar process. Even after the case had bee...n closed Matthew Berry researched and followed up to provide more information helping with my next steps forward. I am very thankful I came to him for help!

The outstanding Legal Representation from Mr. Barry saved my career

My experience working with Mr. Matthew Barry was nothing less than excellent. I received a GOMOR which was filed in my permeant Army Human Resource Record file for a domestic violence allegation. I hired legal representation from another legal source to assist in preparing my rebuttal in which I felt... I was poorly represented. My rebuttal for my GOMOR was denied and was ordered to appear before an Officer separation Board Of Inquiry (BOI). I contacted Mr. Matthew Barry and he immediately poured a massive amount of energy into my case. His communication with me was fluid and his approach was direct and honest. Throughout the process, Mr. Barry maintained clear and honest communication, thoroughly researched and collected new evidence, and effectively coordinated with character witnesses. He vigorously contested the allegations with an aggressive lawyer who represented the government. His efforts culminated in a favorable decision, with the Board finding that the evidence did not support the allegations. Following this victory, Mr. Barry continued to advocate on my behalf by liaising with the General’s legal aide and preparing a comprehensive letter to the Department of the Army Suitability Evaluation Board (DASEB), which contributed to the removal of the GOMOR from my permanent records. I am deeply grateful for Mr. Barry’s professionalism, expertise, and commitment, which ultimately saved my military career. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking exceptional legal counsel in military matters. His services are truly outstanding, and he is, without a doubt, the best in his field.

Outstanding legal professional—knowledgeable, reliable, and dedicated. He guided me through complex issues with clarity and confidence, always putting my best interests first.

I would highly recommend Attorney Barry to everyone.

I was faced with elimination from the Army following a prolonged investigation into allegations of fraternization, consuming alcohol during the duty day, and attempting to interfere with the investigation. With Attorney Barry there to support and represent me throughout this process, I was retained f...or future service and all but one of the allegations were unsubstantied. Despite how prolonged this process was, Attorney Barry was always there with a positive attitude that left me with the confidence that we would be successful at the board. His insight, advice, and willingness to just listen when I needed to vent, kept me level-headed and focused. During preparation for the board, Attorney Barry provided constant updates on where we stood, evidence gathered, and how we would approach every conceivable situation we would encounter. During this I would ask his thoughts and opinions on how he expected the board to go. He was open and honest, but again, his confidence was unwavering, even when I had my own personal doubts of myself when I agreed to testify and face cross-examination from the Government and even questions from the Board Members themselves. Even during the board itself, this confidence never wavered. Attorney Barry’s attention to detail, knowledge, and expertise was amazing to watch in action; going so far as to point out inconsistency with witness testimony, alternative views, and even inconsistency and issues with the investigation itself. I will always be grateful for Attorney Barry’s dedication, commitment, and unwavering support throughout this case. I would not have been successful without him.

Matt Barry Helped Me Rebuild My Life

I worked with Matt Barry for over two years during what was, without question, the most difficult and uncertain time of my life. I was under intense pressure, unsure of what the future held, and needed someone I could trust to walk with me through it. From day one, Matt proved to be more than just a ...great attorney — he was a steady, honest, and compassionate presence when I needed it most. He understands the military legal system inside and out, which is crucial in a world where everything — from structure to consequences — is different. But more than his knowledge, what stood out most was his character, ethics, and communication. He always kept me informed, explained everything clearly, and made sure I never felt in the dark. His consistency, professionalism, and transparency gave me peace of mind when very little else could. In a space where many attorneys will bait you with promises, inflate costs, or treat you like just another case — Matt is the exception. He is one of the most ethical and straightforward professionals I’ve ever worked with. What you see is what you get: honest advice, fair expectations, and a real commitment to doing what’s right. Matt hasn’t forgotten why he chose this work. He hasn’t let power, pride, or greed cloud his purpose. His integrity and loyalty to those in uniform remain rock solid — because he’s been there. He understands what’s at stake, not just legally, but personally and professionally. It’s rare to find someone who’s not only talented and experienced, but who also carries all the intangibles — integrity, empathy, loyalty, and a genuine calling to serve. Matt has helped me in more ways than he may ever know — not just professionally, but in protecting my well-being and giving me a real shot at peace and stability going forward. I thank him sincerely — and so does my family. We will never forget what he did for us. If you’re in the military and facing something that feels overwhelming, you don’t just need legal defense — you need someone who sees you, stands with you, and holds himself to the highest standard. Matt Barry is that kind of lawyer — and that kind of man. Stay in the fight, Matt!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
