He saved my life

I was very impressed and super pleased with the attention, care, and professionalism I received from Mr. Barry . He answered my wife and I questions, concerns. Doubts we had were addressed from the very beginning and we were updated in a timely manner about all the proceedings. Mr.Barry really fought... for me and won my case. Watching him do his thing in the court room was really remarkable. He saved my military career. If you’re sitting here wondering if you should hire him, first thing I will say is that whatever faith you believe in led you here for a reason. Take it form someone like me who changed lawyer twice because I had bad representative whom I never felt ,really care for or took my case seriously until I met Mr.Barry. He will fight for you, he will go above and behind for you, even when you feel like giving up and you feel like it’s the end of the world, give Mr.Barry a chance! I promise you will not regret it. This man, is more than an attorney. He was once a soldier and now he defends us because he understands us.

Highly Satisfied with my experience.

I appreciate Matthew Barry for the work he has done for us. He showed compassion and took the time to educate me on what to expect, what the likely outcome would be and then he achieved it. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence, and results truly reflected his work ethic. I would absol...ute recommend him to anyone needing a military lawyer.

Attorney Barry should be your first call when you are in need of legal assistance.

Mr. Barry was an outstanding attorney who went above and beyond to make my family and I feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Mr. Barry developed a strong case gathering witnesses and statements that had been deliberately left out by the investigators. He stayed in contact with me regularly... throughout my entire process and was always more than happy to be available to talk about any questions or concerns I had with my case helping to keep our minds at ease. The investigative process and following proceedings can be very stressful, especially if you have been in limbo for a while already and your left with your thoughts of your career being on the line. Mr. Barry worked alongside my Army appointed attorney to ensure every base was covered. From witnesses to medical records, Mr. Barry ensured every I was dotted, and T was crossed moving into my Board of Inquiry. He was able to get a good majority of the investigator's documents thrown out due to a poorly done and non-impartial investigation being conducted by another branch of service. I had a very poor experience with a previous attorney I hired at the start of this process before Mr. Barry and was extremely hesitant to spend another dime on outside counsel. However, Mr. Barry made me feel comfortable immediately during my consultation, not only about my case, but about him being my representation after that previous attorney's had soured my taste for civilian legal counsel as a whole. It was the best decision I ever made hiring Mr. Barry. Mr. Barry worked tirelessly on my situation; I had dual cases processing at the same time that threatened my entire 16-year career, medical retirement, and my reputation as a Soldier. The result was more than worth the wait, the appeals Mr. Barry put together for me were more than strong enough to allow me to go through with my medical retirement with no negative effects to my career I have built. No longer was an under other than honorable discharge on the table, no longer are my retirement and benefits on the line, and my reputation as a solid leader has been restored. Bottomline, if you are in need of legal representation, do not hesitate to hire Attorney Barry, his demeanor, unmatched knowledge of the military legal system, work ethic, and track record speak for themselves, and you will never have that feeling of "is my attorney doing anything for me right now, am I even a priority," running through your head. I cannot sing high enough praises. Thank you, Mr. Barry.

Counterproductive Leadership, RFC Eval, and SSRB

Over the course of 2 years, Matt provided exceptional legal advice and support through a counterproductive leadership investigation, relief for cause, and ultimately a SSRB. He was able to objectively look at the situation, ask the tough questions, and provide honesty and empathy. He displayed genuin...e, personal attention to my case while balancing a large case load. He was able to make himself available at all times of the day, as well as the flexibility to adjust to my OCONUS PCS. At no point, did I feel like I was just another case. During numerous setbacks, he remained positive with a "no quit" attitude. Ultimately, I was able to achieve a positive outcome of my SSRB due to his dedication to my case. I highly recommend contacting, consulting with, and ultimately highering Matt Barry to any US Army Officers or NCO fighting a counterproductive leadership accusation.

Epitome of Professional Excellence

Mr. Matthew Barry from the first second he answered my phone call until the last email was (and is) a consummate professional through and through. He always answered my questions honestly and to the point, did not try to sugar coat anything nor did he attempt to mislead or conceal anything regarding ...my options, and this was before I had even retained him. Communication with Mr. Barry is exceptionally smooth, he was most generally available to answer my texts, emails, and calls unless otherwise occupied with another case and even if he could not get back to me immediately he was prompt in acknowledging receipt of correspondence so I knew he was working on it which gave me peace of mind. He would often check in with me making sure he and I were on the same page and up to date regarding case events as well as checking in on me regarding my well-being overall which I greatly appreciated during this extremely stressful time in my life. Mr. Barry managed to maintain a courteous and friendly demeanor while remaining professional, always providing carefully crafted courses of action for my review, and after seeking my input would often work to revise a plan of action if necessary before we implemented it. Mr. Barry allowed an enormous amount of stress to be lifted from my shoulders by establishing himself as my representation before the investigating parties and making sure they understood my rights, ensuring that I was not taken advantage of, and preventing further harm to me or my reputation at the hands of overzealous investigators. His military background and education speak for themselves once you see the excellent quality of his work and you would be hard pressed to find another Lawyer that has all of these qualities, characteristics, and more that does not also cost two or three times as much to hire. Overall, had I not sought out Matthew Barry and his expertise and tried to navigate my ordeal alone, I would surely have been far worse off. I would not have known or understood all of my rights, I would have probably been taken advantage of by investigators seeking to confuse and entrap me, and I may not have walked away with my Honorable Discharge, which I am eternally grateful for.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
