Great to have in your Corner

After contacting Mr. Barry about my case he laid out a plan on how he would attack the problem and a way to move forward. After contracting him he was dependable and stuck with me for a process that lasted over a year and half. His expertise showed through with keeping me up to date with items he wou...ld need to give me the best possible chance of success. I would recommend anyone that is going through any sort of UCMJ to hire Mr. Barry as his experience with dealing with these types of cases is invaluable. For those questioning whether or not to hire a lawyer, it is far more worth it to do everything your power to salvage a situation or a career than to go it alone. With Mr. Barry's help, I had my GOMOR moved to the restricted section of my OMPF and have a fighting chance at my next level of advancement.

Attorney Barry is highly recommended for any and all legal matters you face!

I am a Captain in the U.S. Army who was facing a Board of Inquiry to determine if I was retainable in the Army. A Major General ordered the board, despite the evidence showing what I believed was my innocence. Due to this, I had lost hope in the justice of the military legal system. I thought it ...was a forgone conclusion that no matter what I did, my command would find me “guilty” and move separate me from service. After searching for attorneys that specialized in military Law, I found Matthew Barry. During our brief consultation phone call, I felt an immense sense of relief. Attorney Barry spoke with a calm confidence that we had an excellent chance to win this case and was eager to help. Attorney Barry was laser focused on my case throughout the entire process. His extreme attention to detail and aggressive pursuit of facts led to the development of a substantial case file in my defense. He spoke with and helped prepare character witnesses on my behalf for the Board of Inquiry. He talked me through the likely argument of the opposing side and the counter argument he would provide to negate any and all claims made by the government. I felt at ease going into the board as a result of Attorney Barry’s level of preparation and constant communication with me. At the Board of Inquiry, I witnessed why Attorney Barry is so highly recommended. He meticulously laid out the facts of the case, disproved the claims made the government, and eroded the credibility of the opposing JAG through showcasing that he, Matthew Barry, had a superior understanding of the entire legal process. He presented a well organized and logical argument in my defense that clearly walked the Board through the evidence to show my innocence. As a result of his hard work, the Board recommended that I be retained!

Mr. Barry significantly helped provide my evidence to my Commander, giving him the real story, with full details!

Attorney Matthew Barry became my Defense Attorney to represent me as I was pending five charges. Bottom line up front, Mr. Barry significantly helped provide my evidence to my Commander, giving him the real story, with full details. Mr. Barry truly listened to what I had to say, and throughout the en...tire duration, I felt like someone was on my side. Most importantly, Mr. Barry gave me honest advice, and remained diligent in my case. In summary, As a SGT in the Army I was faced with multiple charges. It began with a recommendation for an article 15 for a failure to report to PT, and a failure to report to work call. I was then accused of being drunk on duty. After missing PT formation, my new NCOIC told my leadership that he expected me of being “drunk”. After being taken to the MP station for a breathalyzer test, I was found to have a .0 something BAC, and my charge was changed to incapacitated to fulfill my duties. At this point, I hadn’t thought about getting a lawyer. It wasn’t until halfway through my enrollment in the Army’s Alcohol Program in which I was questioned by CID for a pending sexual assault charge. At that very moment I knew I needed to look for a lawyer and declined to the scope of questions from CID until I had a lawyer present. Quickly, I found Mr. Barry through a search and read through his site very thoroughly. I read extremely positive reviews and decided to take a chance. Luckily for me, Mr. Barry willingly and quickly accepted to represent me for the CID questions and pending article 15 charges. As we went over the details of my case throughout the month, Mr. Barry remained honest about what to expect being guilty of being absent from a formation, but most importantly offered resources of others in my area of South Korea for any court martial hearing in the case he couldn’t attend, had I chosen that route. Mr. Barry and I spent almost two months waiting to hear any details regarding the CID case of the alleged sexual assault as I was left out of the loop, clueless, and worried since I hold a TS clearance. My command remained silent throughout the duration of the investigation, and I never heard back from CID. In the meantime, Mr. Barry took my case of failure to report to PT and work call, and incapacitated to fulfill my duties charges, and started working on those matters. After two months, CID finally reach the verdict of not guilty, and I was relieved. By this time, I was also accused of having violated a no drinking order, totaling 5 charges. Mr. Barry read through my hearing packet and listened to everything I had to say. Mr. Barry included my evidence, my witness testimony in the sexual assault case, and heard my issues. Overall, I was guilty of violating a no drinking order, and having failed to report to PT; Although I lost my rank and received an oral reprimand, the article was filed locally. However, while at my second hearing, my Command Team, Battalion Commander, and CSM, took over an hour to debate on what they should do, and I have a strong feeling it was regarding the matters that Mr. Barry was able to help me with. The way Mr. Barry was able to see all angles of my case and help to showcase these angles to my Commander was truly helpful. I would not have been able to do this alone and most importantly, Mr. Barry’s helped assured me someone was on my side. I wasn’t even contacted by Army Legal until after the investigation was over because they were booked. I would hire Mr. Barry again if I ever needed it and commend him for his ability to be considerate to my feelings, diligent, and overall enthusiastic about putting my matters together. For anyone wanting to hire Mr. Barry, make sure to be completely honest with him, and he will ensure he can do the best he can to help you with your case!

Long Road

I hired Attorney Matthew Barry after I ended up in a hole because of an attorney I originally hired named Joseph Jordan. Mr. Jordan helped to create an issue that placed me in an uphill battle that continues to this day. It has been nearly a year since I hired Mr. Barry and replaced Mr. Jordan and th...rough several IG complaints, issues with reprisal and denial of an earned promotion we've made progress and he's been patient with my constant need to stay engaged. The most recent egregious event was a Flight Evaluation Board that was convened as reprisal for an IG complaint that I filed. Mr. Barry was extremely meticulous and was intimately familiar with every detail. He showed up prepared... When I met him on post he asked, "Do you want to see what the last six months of your efforts have produced?" Of course I was interested! Mr. Barry pulled, from his bag, a large three-ringed binder that was nearly full, all things that I had gathered or had written over the previous six months. More impressive is that Mr. Barry had familiarized himself with every detail contained in that binder. He knew the information inside and out. We won that Flight Evaluation Board, the board ruled that the accusations were unsubstantiated. This did not stop a member of the chain of command from recommending that my flight status be terminated despite the board's ruling. But Mr. Barry continued to coach me and encourage me to remain calm. Several months later we received the final decision... I was allowed to keep my flight status. The final determining authority acknowledged that there was not sufficient evidence. There is more fighting and there are more uphill battles that need to be won; but winning the FEB was a significant step in the right direction. I have already recommended Mr. Barry to others. I will continue to recommend him. When a command and when the military allows commands to act and interpret regulation without oversight or redress, it is imperative to have someone in your corner.
