I am a non custodial parent that has fought hard to get court ordered visitation with my children (thanks to Attorney Rodgers). Recently I went through an issue where although I have court ordered visitation my ex wife threatened to disregard the court order. She came up with excuses and reasons why ...the visitation could not happen for the upcoming week. When she told me through text message that I could not have the children and the reasons why I immediately called Ms. Rodgers and told her what was going on. During our phone conversation Ms. Rodgers said that we would immediately file an emergency motion to show cause which would get my ex-wife into court quickly. We already had the documentation to show that she was not going to allow me to have the children for my week of visitation. I knew my ex-wife was serious about not letting me have the children for my visitation time but Ms. Rodgers told me to follow through on the court order even though we had a strong feeling that my ex wife would not comply with the court order. So I went to the meeting location just like Ms. Rodgers advised me to do and my ex wife never showed up (we still have to follow the court order even if the other side does not want to). The good thing is Ms. Rodgers already had things moving because she already filed the motion to show cause with the court. The judge immediately signed the motion and granted us a court hearing a few days after the exchange for visitation should have taken place. We went to court a few days later and the judge was not happy that the exchange of the children did not take place. The judge picked up on the lies that were being told by my ex wife. She was held in contempt of court for lying and placed in handcuffs and was on the verge of going to jail. The judge ordered the children to be brought to court and my ex wife would not be released until they got there. The children were finally brought to court by the mother of my ex wife and I was allowed to leave and enjoy the rest of the week of visitation with my children. I am not telling this story to be spiteful against my ex wife. I am telling this story to show the importance of having a good attorney representing you. The quick thinking and planning by Ms. Rodgers allowed me to enjoy the precious time that I have with my children. If it wasn't for her coming up with a game plan and quickly filing the paperwork the visitation would not have taken place and I would have missed out on valuable time with my children. Having a good attorney can make all the difference in the world when it comes to being in the lives of your children.
