Lacks Knowledge/Ethically Questionable

Mr. Friedman represented me in my child support case. In the order, written by his firm, I was owed $10,000 in child support arrears to be paid in small payments over a protracted period of time. (I later learned I was entitled to the child support arrears and DCSE would have garnished my ex's pay an...d seized his tax return, had Friedman not written this extended payment schedule in the order. This was something a family law attorney should be aware of and advocate for their clients). Knowing their firm negotiated this disadvantaged order, he then proceeded to sue me for being unable to pay legal fees. My inability to pay was directly related to their poor knowledge of child support law and inability to advocate for client rights. In addition to this significant deficiency, he moved forward with legal action attempting to garnish my wages for payment of legal fees with his firm. I attempted to make a payment that was affordable within the awarded child support payments but he was unwilling to accept the payment I could make. This directly resulted in bankruptcy as the only option available allowing me to support my child with the deficient order created by Friedman Law.

Rick Friedman, Friedman Law Firm Chesterfield VA

I was referred to Mr. Friedman from another family law group in Richmond who could not take my case due to conflicts. Apparently my ex interviewed attorneys all around town. I scheduled the appointment and was really impressed with the initial meeting. Like any good salesman he is very good at telli...ng you what you want to hear. When I met with him he had one of his associates with him that is obviously newer, "in training" and he used the term you get 2 attorneys for the price of one. Basically it's I brought this associate just in case you don't have enough money for me and this one is less expensive and I hold her hand anyway. Yeah right. This should have been a big red flag. I noticed as well when he gets one or 2 negative reviews all of a sudden the positive ones start appearing out of the blue. His co workers and friends start posting the positive reviews. Of course they are fake, they are not detailed and took someone 30 seconds to post. If someone takes time to post an in depth review, pay attention.. Most people don't want to put their personal information out there or take the time to write a review. If i can just save one person the same misery I underwent it will be worth it. I have been 8 years in and out of family court trying to get support for me and my little girls and have had a few attorneys. Even one had been disciplined by the bar and was a horrible experience but even he was no match for this doozy and Mr Friedman is my only review. He takes the cake. So, Mr. Friedman, will pad his expenses. You will get bills and have no idea what he did or for how long. $3,000 for court prep. Interesting. What prep? $2,000 for court date. Bam your retainer is gone. POOF. A few weeks later he gets some information requests from the other attorney. Then you get the email. Put another 5,000 in or we have to withdraw. Oh really? I just gave you 5,000 and I just got a bill with 0 balance. No maam, he says that was last month. You owe us $4,986.59 for work this month. Guess what? I borrow the $5,000 and he still sends me a motion to withdraw... Really. I am a single mom of 2 beautiful little girls and he coerces me to bring the account current and drops me. Do not use this attorney. Apparently as soon as you start to question is ethics and where the money is going he doesn't have the answer and drops you as a client but just after he bleeds you dry. Now I have 2 little girls and a child support case that I have no more money for. Thanks Mr. Friedman you're a real winner!! The positive reviews are friends, family and coworkers. For instance, Joy Hickman one of his positive, raving client reviews on Google works in his office! Interview others there are ones that actually care about the clients they serve and not about their own pockets.

Our success is based on happy clients. We have a long history of client satisfaction. We take any negative comment seriously. Unfortunately, when a post is anonymous, it tells us that it is not a real client. We prevail in many, many cases. We have found that negative reviews come from opposing parties most of the time. I reached out to all of our attorneys in our firm to see if they have any clue who this "client" could be. We are stumped. We have no client in our system that owed $4,986.59. Finally, our invoices always show exactly what time our attorneys spent on a matter with specific details of what work they performed. If by any chance this is a real client, please call me at your earliest convenience. I am always available at 804-717-1969. Sincerely, Rick Friedman October 2018 update - we have not heard from this person.

Highly Recommend Mr. Friedman!!

Mr. Friedman has helped me on a couple different occasions with child support. He was always on top of what was going on and worked proactively to resolve the matter before having to appear in court. Him and his staff were great to work with. Everyone I interacted with was very compassionate and sen...sitive to my situation which helped me to be at ease with what was going on. We were able to work with the opposing attorney and settle out of court. He is someone I truly trust to and is determined to do what is best for the situation. I would highly recommend Mr. Friedman to anyone looking for an attorney who takes a vested interest in their clients.
