I got a high speed reckless driving ticket in Loudoun county. I'm new to VA and i had no idea that any speed over 85mph or 20+ over the speed limit is a criminal offense and will stay on your record forever. Driving through Loudoun County, VA near Leesburg on a Thanksgiving trip to visit my daughter on a 4-lane highway, I made a snap decision to continue to pass a gentleman on my right who had sped up as I began to pass him. This unfortunate decision resulted in my exceeding the posted speed limit by 21... MPH. The officer provided me with a summons for Reckless Driving , the penalty for 20+ MPH in excess of the posted limit. An officer pulled me over and issued what I thought was a ticket. Unfortunately, it was a Summons and included a court date to appear the following February. Since this all occurred as the holiday weekend began and we made the 400+ mile return trip home on Sunday, there wasn’t an opportunity to do anything about it. Once I researched/understood the details and implications, it was clear that I needed an attorney. Along with the February Court appearance, maximum possible penalties included up to 12 months in jail, a $2,500 fine, insurance cost increases and a criminal entry on my driving record. I got RD(Reckless Driving) 3 months back, as regular human practice we react last minute I called Raj's office 1 day before the court date, Raj accepted my case and he told me that I will make RD won't exist in your history.. guess what finally it is reduced to "Fail to Obey Highway Signs" , not even... a speeding ticket.
