Result and Goal-oriented defense!

Jon Katz demonstrated exceptional legal expertise in reducing a challenging DUI charge (BAC >0.15) to reckless driving and a civil refusal in a strict court, skillfully navigating three prosecutorial witnesses and my regrettable actions during the arrest. His strategic brilliance, including a last-mi...nute confirmation from an immigration lawyer, masterful negotiation skills, and cultural savvy led to a significantly better outcome than anticipated. Supported by the compassionate and responsive team of Shay and Jocelyn, Jon Katz and his team provided professional, relentless, and clutch decision-making, earning a strong recommendation for anyone needing a top-tier defense attorney.

The Best, The Cat!

Let me tell you something, if you really like your freedom DO NOT LOOK FURTHER, PLEASE! What other people said is totally true. Mr. Katz is the best in his field and you WILL NOT REGRET HIRING HIM. I was charged with one felony theft and two petty theft. I am an F1 student and I thought that this s...tupid choice was going to ruin my life. It was the first (and the LAST) time I was being charged of anything and I really did not know where, how to find a good lawyer. THANK GOD I listened to people in those reviews. All the lawyers that I saw before him told me that I might go to jail for few days, but Mr. Katz reassured me that he will fight for me and will not leave the Court with a jail time sentence. Final decision: the misdemeanors cases' were dismissed and the felony case was reduced to a disorderly conduct charge. This was the best scenario that I could get in order to not suffer from any immigration consequences and he GOT IT. I mean... if after reading this you keep searching... Anyway, DO YOUR HOMEWORK and listen to HIM. He knows what is best for you. He's a compassionate, committed and hard-working lawyer. Thank you again. Mr. Katz, You are one of a kind. C'est vous, le chat!

Criminal Charge

I never write review for anyone before, but I will do it this time for Katz and for those of you who needed help from a "real lawyer". I will be absolutely honest about my case and Katz. I had two previous charges of misdemeanor in 2010 and was place in removal proceeding because I'm not a US citizen... (I fought my case back w/ an immigration lawyer and won my case), I cannot have any more Misdemeanor nor Felony. In 2015 I was charge with a Felony (Grand Larceny, I was with someone and they charged me as well), I was recommended to Katz by my immigration lawyer. Katz is not cheap (but he will worth every penny you spend). I came to Katz's office June 2015, HOPELESS about my case. I know for 90% I will be deported if I face any charges even a misdemeanor theft. All the other lawyers I've been to make a lot of promised. I've dealt w/ manny lawyers before and none of them act like Katz. He asked me to do homework (theft class & community service hours). Mean while he obtain the evidence in fighting my case. He CARED, Katz would call me the day before court date to see if I have any questions or if I need anything. After 10 months of fighting, the result came out amazing…TRESPASS…Unbelievable. I was speechless. Katz is above amazing, he kept his promised. I have two words to described Katz "HIRE HIM", because you will get what you paid for. GOOD LUCK

Jon literally saved my life!

I presume you are reading this because you are charged with something and that you are looking for "the lawyer" who can do the best for you. Please keep reading. You will learn from my story as I was here on this site reading the reviews to pick "the best lawyer" not too long ago. I am a permanent re...sident of the US and I have a good background/education with a good job. I was charged with a misdemeanor theft, which jeopardized my future, specifically my US citizenship, the idea of starting a family (I was planning to bring my fiancé from overseas after becoming a citizen), and my career (obtaining a security clearance). So, I had to find the best lawyer to get me out of this trouble. While I was beating up myself for being in this position, I immediately started looking for the lawyer. In the meantime, I received a number of letters from lawyers to my address advising me to hire them. They must have checked the police records to figure out that I needed a lawyer. Among those, I picked one. Additionally, I picked 3 other lawyers on this site based on the reviews and their ratings. So, I had total of 4 lawyers to meet with. I started seeing them one by one. The first lawyer I met had a limited experience. She said no matter what she would do I would be found guilty and that the only way that would give me a better chance would be during the appeal. So, she basically asked me to pay her so that she would escort me to the court until the appeal. The other lawyer was a former prosecutor. He said he wouldn't be able to do anything to save me and that the prosecutors would never be convinced to amend the charge even if I did hundreds of hours of voluntary community service. I was hopeless and sleepless for days. I had to find that lawyer that would give me relief from this pain. The last lawyer I saw before I met Jon had 30 years of experience who practiced not only criminal law but also immigration law. This sounded very convenient as I would need both. He told me some of the similar cases he dealt with. I was about to hire him. I went ahead and asked him a few questions about my immigration status and its potential impact by this charge. Based on his answers, I figured that he didn't know some of the key facts (admitting arrests on form N-445) on immigration law. So, I gave up on him. Jon was the last lawyer I met with. As soon as I explained him the situation, he wrote me the prescription. Not to reveal his magic, I will briefly mention. The prescription included a voluntary community service, psychological evaluation, and letters from the immigration and security clearance lawyers for the potential ramifications in case I would be found guilty. These all would help Jon convince the prosecutor to amend the charge if not totally drop it. One of the best things of hiring Jon is that he already has the contacts to make them available for you. We were able to obtain all the letters along with the psychological evaluation. I know psychological evaluation sounds scary. However, the psychologist Jon referred me to was such a great person, he made it all very easy. I also did over 100 hours of voluntary community service. During the court day, Jon was alert and totally in control. He went ahead and talked to the prosecutor even before the witness showed up. He convinced the prosecutor not to prosecute! What a life changing moment. Thank you Jon! Thank you the "Dream Team", the psychologist, the immigration and the security clearance lawyers, and Jon's great staff! So, after all, my advice to those who are looking for the best lawyer: Hire Jon if you want your lawyer to fight for you till the very end. I have no doubt he will do the best for you. With all due respect, my advice to other lawyers with limited abilities: Go intern with Jon in his office. It doesn't matter for how long you have been practicing. I promise you will learn a lot from him!

One night in Bangkok!!

I had a simple but a tough case because of the county the incident took place, my line of profession and immigration status. I was scared, better say terrified. My immigration attorney recommended Jon and I set up an appointment immediately. After our first meeting I hired him. Before meeting with Jo...n I met with 3 attorneys and all of them told me the same thing: I had to plead guilty and hope that the prosecutor would agree to a plea bargain. But Jon was totally different; he was realistic but also had a strategy that was well thought out. We both had work ahead of us but it was much better than sitting around and hoping for the best. Jon believed in being extremely prepared and going to court as if we would be going for trial. When I asked him why do all this work; he said, if you go to settle it will more likely go to trial. But if you go to trial it will more likely settle. His initial fee was relatively hire than the other 3 attorneys however Jon works relentlessly. He always finds time to return calls, emails and if you call in advance meet with you in person. I recall the night before my court date (which was a Sunday) Jon was still editing, from home the letters that my immigration attorney delayed in delivering!! When we arrived to court on Monday we were ready more than any of the other people. The prosecutor was very tough and was not willing to compromise. Jon did not get discouraged with the prosecutors negative act, and he immediately approached to the supervising prosecutor. I was so scared that when I look back all the people are a blur except Jon. I remember him walking very quickly back and forth, strategizing the case, keeping me well informed and exploring every option possible. Finally Jon came back with a deal that I was not prepared at all. Looking back If it wouldn't have been for Jon I still don't think I would have accepted the prosecutor's offer. But Jon talked with me why it's beneficial not only for the case but for my employment status as well. So I accepted the offer and the outcome even though was difficult, for reasons I would not like to share, turned out to be the best. Thanks to Jon, my immigration status is in good standing so as my employment:) Jon if you are reading this, you know who I am. I am sure there were times (plenty) that I drove you crazy with endless questions, emails and worries. But you made me feel very important every time I reached out to you. Even though your answers are always short and to the point, and it took me a while to get used to your abrupt ways, I know it was tough love at the end. I wish you all the best and a big THANK YOU!

"I have been a peer criminal defense lawyer to Jon Katz for a little under a decade. From a distance, I already knew that he was a reputable trial lawyer who is clearly on the more zealous side of the fence than the average practitioner. More recently I had personal collaboration with him regarding a mutual client with serious charges in multiple jurisdictions. Jon worked quickly and effectively to secure unusually-favorable relief for the client, and reconfirmed to me why he has the reputation that he does. I work next door to him and based on when his car is in the lot, I can safely say he is one of the hardest-working attorneys I have ever seen. He is very focused on the latest changes in the law, and he regularly enlists expert witnesses to bring the best and most novel defenses on behalf of his clients. I can safely endorse Jon as one of the most devoted trial lawyers in Northern Virginia."
