Most competent counsel I've ever retained.

I unfortunately have had to retain legal counsel a few more times than I care to admit in my life. I have been burned in the past by lawyers that will take a flat fee and provide a resolution that makes their work load easier, as opposed to looking out for their client's best interests. This was mo...st certainly not the case when I retained the counsel of attorneys William "Ben" Mann, and Caleb Kershner. I can easily call them "the dynamic duo"when talking about representation in Loudoun County. I had contacted Mr. Mann just 6 days prior to my hearing, his response to my e-mail was prompt and professional. He stayed in constant communication with me until he had a full grasp on my circumstances. Mr. Mann gave me an honest evaluation and took the time to listen to my whole situation. It was not black and white to him, he understood the nuances that made my case specific to me, and gave me real expectations, while keeping my goals in mind. That following Monday, he had been booked with another case, since I contacted on such short notice. He sent his partner in his stead, Mr. Caleb Kershner, Mr. Kershner had been fully briefed, and came prepared to the courthouse as if he had done my intake himself. He thoroughly investigated my record, and payments to the courthouse, before stepping into the conference room to talk terms with the prosecutor. I was facing a third driving on suspended, a charge that carried a ten day mandatory minimum jail sentence, a 6 month re-suspension of my license, that I had restored in the meantime, and possibly a violation of my probation that could have resulted in me serving any portion the court seemed fit of the 2 and a half years prison sentence still hanging over my head. With Mr. Kershner's knowledge of Virginia's statutes, and an amazing relationship worth every penny I paid, and more, with the arresting officer and prosecutor, he came out with a deal that ended up with a reduced charge. But that still wasn't good enough for Mr. Kershner, he worried the misdemeanor they offered me could still effect my probation, and after calling my supervising officer himself, and confirming that it may, he went back to the table for me. He came back out with the charge ultimately reduced to a traffic offense, the equivalent of a speeding ticket. There was no jail time, no re-suspension of my license, no misdemeanor on my record, and no effect on my probation! This was an outcome I didn't imagine even in my wildest of dreams of scenarios. I walked into court that day prepared to walk away in cuffs, and Mr. Mann and Mr. Kershner had me walking out of there singing the lord's praises. If I could give this team of young, intelligent, competent, and ambitious attorneys 6 stars out 5, I would. They are worth every penny and more, and I will always recommend them to anyone who I come across that needs legal counsel. If you're worried about paying a large retainer fee for an outcome that will be no better if you walk in there alone, worry no more, and hire Simms Showers LLP, and make sure you ask for attorneys William "Ben" Mann and Caleb Kershner.

5 stars

Mr Mann represented me from Michigan, so I did not have to attend court in Virginia. Was able to get my reckless driving reduced for me to a speeding infraction. Very pleased with the outcome.

Highly recommend!

Ben is one of the most caring and knowledgeable lawyers that I have ever met. I met him by chance while I was leaving the courtroom after receiving the harshet punishment for failing to appear in court ON TIME for a VERY minor traffic ticket. I was told because I came late, the judge had already ...found me guilty and the only thing I could do now is pay the maximum fines + lose points on my license. The judge and the officer both refused to give me a chance to even speak and explain myself and I was basically kicked out of the courtroom. Luckily for me, I came across 3 lawyers that were standing outside the courtroom, I asked them if there is anything I could do at this point. The other lawyers said "just wait until the judge hears ALL 200 cases before you and try to convince him to give you a continuum" (meaning I would have to wait another 2 hours and the judge may still refuse to hear me out) that did not seem like the best advice for me. On the other hand, Ben suggested a few promising options and he seemed to genuinely care about helping me. By random chance, the client he was with had a trial with the same officer that I was supposed to see. Ben told me to wait a few minutes and that he will be right back (I did not know what I was waiting for exactly but Ben seemed very confident and trustworthy and I made the right choice by waiting) When he finally came back, he found me within a courtroom FULL of people to let me know that he talked to the officer about my case and that the officer decided to lower my punishment to just having to pay court fines and I would not lose any points. When I first approached Ben, it was only to ask for advice because I was helpless. but to my surprise, Ben actually went out of his way to help me and actually ended up acheiving the best results possible in my situation. He VOLUNTARILY chose to help me because he saw how distressed and helpless I was. From the very brief time I spent with Ben I can definetly see that he is a very confident and take charge lawyer and that automatically made me trust him. Not only that, but he is a genuinely caring person who is deeply concerned about his clients and will do anything to help. I went from leaving the courtroom in tears to leaving with a smile on my face because someone cared enough to help me and actually achieved in doing so. I cannot recommend a better lawyer to go with!!

Great lawyer when you need one

Ben Mann was a great lawyer for my needs. I was facing a Fairfax County, VA aggressive driving charge with a previous record of -11 points. He expediently responded to all of the questions and continually reassured me that everything would be OK. I was concerned that I may lose my license which effec...ts my ability to work and keep a security clearance, and he kept my worries at bay. He was there for me whenever I called, and always returned my calls in short order when he could not answer. The day of my court date, my charge was lowered to a simple speeding charge with a $200 fine. If I ever need a traffic lawyer again (or know of friends or family who do), he will be my first call! Thanks Ben, you're awesome!

Excellent Attorney

I found Ben through the internet, and Ben’s website was very well put together. I found that Ben did a lot of things, but he had a big concentration on my particular infraction. I gave Ben’s firm a call and had an initial consultation with Ben. Ben had a vision of the resolution that we would reac...h and was able to tell me all the steps I had to take. He was concise and to the point, and told me what we were looking at and what our plan was. The offense was serious enough to warrant representation, and Ben seemed to be the best man for the job. Ben had an excellent resolution for me. Ben suggested I take a special course that might help my case, and I did. It was an excellent recommendation and looked great in front of the court. I was facing a serious misdemeanor traffic offense, and Ben got it reduced to “improper driving”. Ben negotiated ahead of time for me, and when he walked in, it only took 15 mins. It was a smooth and expedited process, and it was precisely the result we wanted to reach. I would absolutely recommend Ben to anyone in Virginia who needs an excellent attorney. He has such an interment understanding of the people and procedures of the system; he knows what he is doing.
