About Buta
Biography
I love being a lawyer. Each day I am grateful for the opportunity to use my education, training and experience to help my community through some of the most difficult times that they experience in life. From January 1, 2020 until December 31, 2023 I have served as the Commonwealth's Attorney for Loudoun County, Virginia. I was the first woman elected as the chief prosecutor. During my term, I made sure that we put in programs that helped victims get services and the accused be treated with dignity. I used my experience, perspective and leadership to ensure that the system was fair. The Mission of my administration was *Prevention. Protection. Prosecution*. When I work with my clients, I approach the cases holistically - thoroughly investigating the case, researching the law and zealously defending my client's freedom. Simultaneously, we focus on the accused and the community as a whole - we work tirelessly to assess the "why" the crime was committed, assess what we can do to get services and to avoid convictions and/or imprisonment. My approach is to be direct and no-nonsense. Thus, I am able to establish an honest and trusting relationship with my clients and that makes us a stronger team. This way, our solutions are not temporary but life enhancing.
