Foreclosure sale scheduled? Wages already being garnished? I stop both. Chapter 7, 13, and 11 in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia for over 20 years. Free consultation: (202) 448-5136.

Financial hardship happens to people who did everything right. A job loss, a medical event, a business that did not make it. For over 20 years, I've handled bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, and debt defense for individuals, families, and business owners across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Chapter 11 gives a struggling business room to reorganize while it keeps operating. Creditor pressure stops, leases and contracts get restructured, and the doors stay open. Subchapter V made this realistic for small businesses that could never have afforded a traditional Chapter 11. I handle both, f

Chapter 13 stops a foreclosure sale and lets you cure missed mortgage payments over three to five years. You keep the house, you keep the car, and you pay what your budget actually supports. If your sale date is close, call before it, not after. Filing is what stops the auction.

Chapter 7 eliminates credit cards, medical bills, and personal loans completely and permanently. Most cases run about four months from filing to discharge. I run the means test with you before you spend a dollar, so you know where you stand going in. Filed in DC, Greenbelt, and Alexandria.

Not everyone needs to file. If a creditor or a debt buyer has sued you, that case can often be beaten on the evidence or settled for a fraction of the claim. I defend debt collection lawsuits and negotiate settlements in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Before judgment, before garnishment, before your ac

A foreclosure notice is a deadline, not a death sentence. I stop foreclosure sales in DC, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, Fairfax, and Alexandria. Loan modification, reinstatement, Chapter 13, or a defense to the sale itself. Call before the sale date. Every day you wait narrows your option

BEST LAWYER YOU CAN EVER GET

My husband and I hired Brian to handle our bankrupcty and I am so grateful that we found him. Brian went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with the entire process of filing. He answered all my questions (even the ones that came out of no where). He was a god sent to us and I cant say en...ough about how great of an attorney he is. If you are looking stop now Brian is the best and you would be crazy not to have him on your side.

Good Bankruptcy Guidance in an estate

Brian Lee assisted me in 2023 and 2024, when I became executor of my brother's estate and it included a DC business. His name had been given to me by another attorney. We had to declare my brother's business bankrupt and auction off the assets and satisfy creditors. Brian was very knowledgeable abou...t the process and unique circumstances of DC. He worked closely with our estate attorney (based in Florida) and with the auction company. He kept me informed along the way of timelines and filing requirements. It was a very difficult time for me and he was a steady hand in managing the process. Ultimately we were able to make a satisfactory arrangement with the creditors, and the entire process was finished within 10 months. I appreciated Brian's expertise and dedication to finding positive moments in a generally negative situation.

Thanks for your thoughtful review and for trusting me during such a difficult time. Serving as executor of a loved one's estate is challenging under any circumstances, and the added complexity of a business bankruptcy can make the process even more overwhelming. We persevered with skill and grace! I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you, your estate counsel, and the several other professionals involved to navigate the unique legal and practical issues that arose in your case. Your organization and hard work played an important role in achieving a successful outcome. My goal is always to help clients understand what to expect, stay informed, and move forward with confidence, even when facing difficult circumstances. Thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to share your experience.

Wrongful Foreclosure

I give Brian three stars for taking my call and providing his legal advice. Free consultation is nice to have. :) However, I felt very unhappy at the end of the call. Our house was wrongfully foreclosed upon and the bank had admitted wrongdoing in a letter they sent along with a few hundreds of c...heck. I talked to Brian about exploring my legal options and he was very dismissive. Unlike other attorneys I subsequently called, he wouldn’t even take a look at the letter I had received along with the check. He said something along the lines of: “ This is probably a class-action suit or a settlement with the Attorney General. The $$ is all you get.” It wasn’t a class-action and wasn’t a settlement with the AG either. He wasn’t willing to look into it further. His tone was a gut-punch. He said the statute of limitation was five years and I later found out it depends on the state. After speaking with others attorneys, I called him again to express how I felt during the call, but he didn’t seem to notice anything was wrong. He was just completely silent. I was referred to him by another attorney and upon reading his reviews, decided to contact. I’m a proud immigrant and perhaps my accent was a deal-breaker for him. My bottom-line: Will not contact him again in the future.

Thanks for calling my office. As I explained, wrongful foreclosure litigation is outside my practice area: I help clients who are currently facing foreclosure, not post-foreclosure claims. I'm glad I could point you in a better direction. We remember the call differently. I'm direct with callers because sugarcoating doesn't help anyone, but I'm never dismissive — and the suggestion that your accent played any role is simply not true. I'm sorry the call left you frustrated. I hope you found the right attorney for your situation.
