A foreclosure sale date. A garnishment that already hit your paycheck. A debt lawsuit you just got served with. Those are the three calls I get most.
I'm Brian Lee. I have practiced law in the DC region since 2004 and built Lee Legal in 2008 around one thing: getting people out from under debt they cannot pay.
I file Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Columbia, the District of Maryland in Greenbelt, and the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria. I know the local rules, the trustees, and the judges in all three.
Chapter 7 wipes out credit cards, medical bills, and personal loans, usually in about four months. Chapter 13 stops a foreclosure sale and lets you cure mortgage arrears over five years while you keep the house. Chapter 11 gives a business room to reorganize and keep its doors open.
Not everyone should file. Sometimes the right answer is a settlement, a loan modification, or defending the collection suit on the merits. I will run your actual numbers and tell you which one fits. I will tell you straight, even when the answer is that you do not need me.
Before Lee Legal I worked with the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice, and interned with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. I am admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the bankruptcy courts of DC, Maryland, and Eastern Virginia.

Chapter 13 and 7 Bankruptcy Lawyer
Especially helpful with Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy issues. Responsive, experienced, practical, helpful and knowledgeable!
Cary, thank you. Reviews like this make the work worth it! Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 both have their traps, and every case turns on the details. I'm glad to be useful. If anyone you know is facing debt problems, send them my way. I'll give them straight answers, same as I gave you.

Top Bankruptcy Lawyer
A few years ago a series of business setbacks put me in a precarious personal financial situation, as a result of which I had no option left but to seek relief through the Chapter 7 route. I then made what I believe was one of the best decisions of my professional life, which was to select Brian Lee ...
Thank you, Ramzi. What you noticed in those other courtrooms—preparation—is where the difference gets made. A Chapter 7 that looks simple on the surface is built on the work that happens before you ever walk into court: clean schedules, answers that hold up, a means test that's airtight. The cases that move fastest are the ones that walk in fully prepared. Getting each client a clean discharge so they can move forward with their lives is what I'm all about. Glad I could help you!

GREAT 7 FRIEDNLY
Brian was great. He was easy to work with, understood the circumstances and did what was necessary to achieve the desired goal. Was present every step of the way. I do not plan in getting into the same situation again, but if I did, Brian is who I would hire. On top of it all, he is just a nice guy.
Thanks for your review, Tom, it was a pleasure working with you! My goal is always to make sure clients understand their options, feel supported, and know that they have someone in their corner every step of the way. I appreciate your trust and confidence. While I certainly hope you never find yourself in a similar situation again, I'm grateful to know that you would choose me if you did!
