I'm an immigration attorney working with a great team at Bromberg, Kohler Maya & Maschler, PLLC, a boutique immigration practice in DC ranked by U.S. News and World Report on a list of "best law firms" for immigration law nationwide and by "Expertise" as one of the 21 top DC immigration firms. I have been ranked AV "preeiminent" by Martindale-Hubbell. It has been an honor to represent immigrants from around the world, helping deserving individuals obtain safety, reunite with family members, avoid deportation, and pursue professional dreams. I have presented information on US immigration law and policy to colleagues through the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Federal Bar Association, as well as to the general public at churches, community centers, and consulates. My practice encompasses family-based cases, removal defense, asylum, hardship waivers, and business matters such as L-1 and Religious Worker cases, and international managers and executives. Appellate successes include achieving reversals of cases denied based on supposed lack of credibility, firm resettlement, and erroneous interpretation of foreign customary divorce law. I have also successfully obtained reinstatement of F-1 students who fell out of status through extenuating circumstances, reversed erroneous naturalization denials based on supposed misrepresentation or lack of good character, and successfully convinced USCIS to reoconsider and grant affirmative asylum cases that had initially been "referred" to immigration courts. Court successes include obtaining cancellation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, NACARA, and 212(c) waivers. Thorough documentation has enabled my clients to obtain approvals of waivers, applications, and petitions which had been previously denied. I have spent most of my life assisting immigrants and other marginalized groups, first in my previous career as a teacher, and, since 2005, as an immigration lawyer. From relatively simple cases to those that involve researching foreign law at the Law Library of Congress, I do my best for each and every client. As the daughter of immigrants who made their home in the U.S. after losing many family members to the concentration camps of Europe, I sympathize deeply with those who want or need a fresh start. In 2011 I was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court bar by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a personal hero.
