Someone who actually advocates for you

I worked with her years ago during a long drawn out custody battle that involved abuse and an absent parent. Not only was she forthcoming in what was to be expected, she was kind and fiercely in my corner. She answered all of my questions and genuinely cared about my situation. I've not met many atto...rneys with genuine compassion. If you do get any empathy its usually because you're paying 450/hr for it. Not only would I use her again, I would strongly recommend her.

Family Court

Laura represented me years ago. My sons mother could be summed up in one word. Evil. Laura helped my son and I when I had no hope. I am forever grateful, and recommend her regarding family court issues any chance I get. Thank you Laura!

Not good with domestic violence victims

I had a nasty custody battle and divorce. I still do not feel educated on my rights at all. Ms. Brooks advised me to file a PFA, then advised me to drop it at the hearing (despite more acts of abuse and no contact violations in between) She completely misled me on “stipulation of dismissal and interi...m custody agreement”. My emotionally and physically abusive ex threw out marital property, stole checks, forged my name, and accused me of stealing from the home. She did not answer my questions and I was forced to sign another insurance check in court (at custody hearing) Ms. Brooks told me to sign it and it would be worked out in the ancillary hearing.. between the custody hearing and divorce pretrial she continually asked about the paperwork, but did not answer my questions regarding the fraud and how it would be worked out. She then filed a motion to drop me as a client days before the pretrial conference- since i didn’t send the papers back without my questions being answered- as I didn’t want to get screwed. So I was left at pretrial conference alone to defend myself against another attorney - who made it clear she & ms brooks discussed my case a lot during their personal relationship.. The worst of it all is that she forwarded my emails to my ex’s attorney without my consent. I believed i was speaking in confidence and my own emails to my lawyer were entered as evidence against me.. and had I known my ex would have seen it- i wouldn’t have sent it at all. That significantly strained the relationship as I wasn’t sure how to speak to her about anything anymore for fear of my ex. I made it clear I was trying to ensure I got full custody- at least primary residency, and specifically asked for a lawyer understanding narcissism and emotional abuse. I strongly advise a different attorney - especially if you are the victim of abuse.

Best representation imaginable-Highly recommended for Child Custody

Laura represented me for over 6 years of a nightmare custody battle that would not have been tolerable without her professionalism and support. She was referred to me by a coworker whose fiance worked at the court house. Her fiance said that she is the number one attorney for custody cases and that... everyone in the court house knows how great she is. This statement could not be more accurate. Her expertise, knowledge and overall passion for her clients, the child involved and the outcomes is admirable. From my very first interaction with Laura she was transparent and beyond empathetic to my situation. She cares deeply about her clients and I never doubted that she had my best interest throughout the entire court battle. Laura had amazing follow up and communication. She was quick to respond to my emails, phone calls or text messages. She kept me and my husband informed every step of the way. We knew when motions were filed and documents were submitted. We were always aware of the costs associated and the billing of her time and custody activities was always clear and specific to whatever charges were assessed. Laura was accessible to both myself and my husband for advice on issues that would constantly come up from emails or texts from my sons father. She would provide counsel and communicate with the attorney of my ex to ensure that court orders were being followed. Laura not only gave advice on every situation that we encountered but helped us to navigate through the legalities and ensured that we were always doing the best thing for my son. In the court room Laura is passionate and diligent. She is prepared for anything and carries herself gracefully but with drive and commitment to ensure that her clients case is delivered with the facts and supported with the proper documentation. She does not allow her clients to take the stand without feeling confident in her abilities to represent them. Laura speaks eloquently and is well educated in custody laws and guidelines. Laura is committed to providing the best outcomes and works so hard to make sure that the facts and truth are always clear when she presents your case. Laura does not allow a challenging situation or her personal opinions to get in the way of her court room execution. She knows how to present every aspect of the case and highlights the most important issues. She does not get thrown off by opposing counsel and can speak confidently to the best interest of a child as that is what was most important to me throughout the entire battle. It is because of Laura and her drive and commitment to me and my family that we won our fight and my son is now where he belongs. I cannot imagine working with any other attorney. We will forever recommend and endorse Laura for her services, professionalism and personal drive to help others.

Went the extra mile

Laura was my lawyer during two rounds of a horrible custody battle. She went above and beyond to answer my questions and concerns. She was very knowledgeable and able to navigate a very difficult situation with my ex husband with ease.
