Biography
Stuart A. Carpey, who has been practicing as an attorney since 1987, focuses his practice on complex civil litigation which includes representing injured individuals in a vast array of personal injury cases. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, whose membership is restricted to attorneys who have secured million-dollar settlements or verdicts. He writes on personal injury matters and has lectured at continuing legal education seminars for other attorneys on issues relating to personal injury and insurance law.
Stuart volunteers his time and expertise for people in need of legal services in the Philadelphia area, and in 2002 was appointed as trial counsel by the Federal government on a volunteer basis for individuals who were injured in the World Trade Center attacks of 9/11. Stuart has also been appointed and regularly sits as a Philadelphia County Mediator in complex civil litigation matters, and as a Court appointed Judge Pro Tem in Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and the Federal courts.
Stuart is an avid kayaker, skier, and tennis player. He has had more than his share of injuries throughoutt the years, including knee surgeries, all of which help him understand some of what his clients are going through when recovering from personal injuries.

Replied last May 19, 2014I am sorry you had a bad experience with my firm. This matter does not sound familiar to me, but I do strive for the utmost client satisfaction in every case. However, I must point out that only if the actual facts of the case are known can an objective assessment be made by anyone else, including the other lawyers who supposedly evaluated this person's case and said the case was worth "5x the amount of the settlement." Simply put, no attorney can properly evaluate a personal injury case without having a full picture of both liability and damages. In other words the file. In any case, a thorough analysis of the medical records must be done, with specific attention being paid to prior injuries and treatment, injuries or accidents that the client sustained close in time and prior to the case at issue, objective testing or lack thereof, and an evaluation of credibility of the client and other witnesses. So too in a car accident case, the actual physical damage of the vehicles is important. All of these issues and more will have to be weighed by the jury. As such, they are weighed by the insurance company with whom I am negotiating in any given case. It is inherently unfair for a review site like this one to post a negative review of a lawyer without proof that this was a) an actual client, and b) without the lawyer being able to spell out the actual facts of the case. Unfortunately, if this is an actual client leaving the review here, unless that client agrees to waive the confidentiality privilege, I cannot state the actual facts of the case, and the weaknesses of the case, which would then let all readers evaluate for themselves the true facts and problems of the case. So too, all of my clients receive my books and other materials, all available on my website as well, which spell out in specific detail the settlement negotiation process of the personal injury case and how personal injury cases are evaluated. These books include "The Pennsylvania Accident Victim's Guide To Settling Your Car Accident Case With The Insurance Company" and "The 10 Biggest Mistakes That Can Wreck Your Pennsylvania Accident Case." There are tons of videos on my website that also discuss these issues, and throughout the life of my clients' cases my clients are shown and encouraged to review these materials. Also, all of my clients sign a 2 page letter BEFORE ANY CASE IS SETTLED granting me permission to settle the case, or telling me to reject the settlement offer, telling me to try to seek a higher settlement offer or telling me to take the case to trial. I provide guidance to my clients and tell my clients whether I feel the settlement offer is likely to be increased, and/or what the chances are of getting more at trial. The ultimate decision of whether to accept or reject an offer is always the client's. I know that I cannot always please everyone, but I try to make sure my clients are at the very least well informed of the settlement and litigation process by providing the most useful information to injured individuals.
