Todd W. Elliott, Esq. is a Pittsburgh area resident and a litigator by vocation. For 16+ years, he practiced civil litigation (plaintiff and defense) throughout Western Pennsylvania. Having worked for two prominent regional firms, Mr. Elliott's areas of practice include breach of contract, covenant not-to-compete (non-compete clauses), employee defense of non-compete, business enforcement of non-compete, trade secret violations, theft of mailing lists/recipes, professional negligence, premises liability, unfair trade practices, trade disparagement, and multistate litigation. Over the course of his career, Mr. Elliott handled the mediation of disputes, several trials by jury, and appeals to the Superior and Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Mr. Elliott graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo. He is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa (graduated top 10% of class). Upon earning his Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh. He has handled a wide variety of litigation matters, including construction law, personal injury, PFA, DUI, divorce (no fault), support, custody, and other family law issues.
Upon graduating from law school in 1997, Attorney Elliott served as a judicial law clerk for The Honorable Peter O. Steege, Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. There, one of Mr. Elliott's duties was to make the initial determination on whether to grant temporary PFA's in Beaver County. Mr. Elliott has taken that experience and put it to work in his current practice which involves the prosecution and defense of Protection From Abuse Actions throughout Western Pennsylvania. Mr. Elliott has litigated PFA cases in Washington, Beaver, and Allegheny Counties.
Plus, for over ten years, he practiced civil defense litigation throughout Western Pennsylvania. Having worked for two prominent regional firms, Mr. Elliott's areas of practice include breach of contract, professional negligence (defense), premises liability (defense), unfair trade practices (defense), trade disparagement (plaintiff and defense), and multistate litigation. Over the course of his career, Mr. Elliott handled the mediation of disputes, several trials by jury, and appeals to the Superior and Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Attorney Elliott defended the outgoing CEO of Worldcom, Bernard Ebbers, who was sued in Pittsburgh for his alleged role in diminishing the value of Worldcom stock. In that case, the Teamsters and Steel Workers unions filed suit against Mr. Ebbers in Pittsburgh for his alleged role in decreasing the value of union pensions. In another case, Mr. Elliott also represented Nationwide Insurance Company when a group of Nationwide insurance agents broke off from Nationwide and formed a company that competed directly with Nationwide. Nationwide then filed suit in Western Pennsylvania against the former agents who, in turn, counter sued, resulting in a prolonged legal dispute involving claims (and counterclaims) for trade disparagement (defamation), and theft of trade secrets.
Mr. Elliott defended a Colorado corporation on a breach of contract suit filed in Allegheny County. In that case, the lower court dismissed the case based on a lack of jurisdiction and improper venue and Mr. Elliott ultimately argued the case before the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Likewise, in another breach of contract case, Mr. Elliott represented a Las Vegas company concerning litigation in Pittsburgh.

Attorney Elliott has significant experienced throughout Western Pennsylvania, including not only Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) where he lives, but also the surrounding counties such as Beaver, Washington, and Butler Counties. Mr. Elliott also took and passed the West Virginia bar examination and expanded his practice beyond the immediate borders of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Elliott is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association (Civil Litigation Section); and the American Bar Association.
