John LoTurco was honored as the Suffolk County Practitioner of the Year on September 27, 2018 by the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association. John is the first attorney to have this honor bestowed upon him in the history of the Suffolk County Criminal Bar. After graduating from law school, John was employed by the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office and rapidly rose through the ranks of the District Attorney's Office, spending most of his years in the Major Crime and Narcotics Bureaus. During those years, John prosecuted thousands of narcotics matters, wiretaps, DWIs, sex offenses, burglaries, robberies, larcenies and numerous other offenses. John prosecuted more than 25 jury trials at the District Attorney's Office with a 100% conviction rate.
In 1998, John opened up his own practice in Huntington, New York dedicated to Criminal Defense. Since then, John has litigated over 75 criminal trials to verdict with a significant high percentage of those trials resulting in acquittals. John's cases have been reported on CNN, NBC, FOX CBS, ABC Good Morning America, News 12 Long Island, 880 Radio, 1010 WINS News Radio, New York Times, New York Post, Daily News, Newsday and various other news sources. John graduated from Huntington High School where he lettered in lacrosse. A e of Ithaca College where he also played lacrosse, John went on to Albany Law School of Union University in Albany, New York, where he was President of his class, Chairman of the Moot Court Board and a member of the Rugby team. Building on his trial advocacy skills and his success in trial competitions, John won his law school's mock trial competition as well as a regional competition held in Manhattan which brought him to the National Law School mock trial tournament in Texas where he was a semifinalist winner. John has been coaching the Huntington High School mock trial team since 2015 whereby in 2022 they won the Suffolk County Championship, and finished in second place in New York State out of over 400 teams. And in 2018 Huntington High School team won the Suffolk County Championship and placed third in the New York State mock trial is also a frequent lecturer for the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association, Touro Law School and the Suffolk Academy of Law.
John LoTurco is a lifetime Long Island resident, raised in Huntington, New York where he now resides with his wife and their three children.
