Mr. LoTurco has been practicing criminal law for over 30 years and has had over 125 trials go to verdict and is considered by many in the legal community to be one of the most prominent and successful Criminal Defense Attorneys on Long Island. Mr. LoTurco is a former trial prosecutor for the Major Crime Bureau and Narcotics Bureau of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. In his 25+ year career as a Criminal Defense Attorney, Mr. LoTurco has had over 100 trials with a significant percentage resulting in acquittals. Mr. LoTurco was the coach of the Huntington High School Mock Trial Team from 2015-2025. Under his leadership, the team has won three Suffolk County Championships, including two 2nd place finishes, and one 3rd place finish in New York State out of over the 400 teams participating. Huntington High School Mock Trial team has been ranked as the #1 in public schools in New York State. Mr. LoTurco also previously coached the Touro Law School Mock Trial Team. In addition, Mr. LoTurco has also lectured on trial tactics at the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association, and Touro Law School. As a law student, Mr. LoTurco won the National Trial Competition Regional Championship held in Manhattan, and finished as a national runner up in Houston, Texas.
As a former Narcotics prosecutor, Mr. LoTurco has handled thousands of drug cases on Long Island and New York City boroughs including the Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of New York in Federal matters. Mr. LoTurco has received numerous acquittals in Narcotics matters, dismissals, suppression of evidence, and no true bills after Grand Jury presentations. Mr. LoTurco has prosecuted and defended numerous wiretap investigations. Mr. LoTurco regularly represents clients charged with Operating as a Major Trafficker in State Court and Narcotics Conspiracy and Racketeering in Federal Court.
Mr. LoTurco is a former major offense prosecutor who has handled numerous Homicides, Manslaughters, Robberies, Assaults, and other violent crimes. Mr. LoTurco has had numerous acquittals, dismissals, no true bills on Homicides, Robberies, Assaults, Kidnapping in Suffolk, Nassau, and the Eastern District of New York.
In reference to sex offense cases, John LoTurco has had over a dozen acquittals on numerous Rape and Sex Abuse cases in both Suffolk and Nassau County. He has also obtained an acquittal in New York County in a Prostitution Ring case.
In DWI matters including DWI fatalities, John LoTurco has had over 50 DWI-related trials with a significant percentage resulting in acquittals. John LoTurco has handled thousands of DWI cases across Long Island and the boroughs of New York City.
At Barket Epstein Kearon Aldea & LoTurco, Mr. LoTurco has also successfully litigated and negotiated personal injury and civil settlements with over $20m recovered on behalf of clients. John LoTurco is also well-known for representing plaintiffs and defendants in reference to sex abuse cases under the New York State Child Victims Act and the New York State Adult Survivors Act. He has also successfully defended numerous college students in Title IX academic disciplinary actions, including alleged sexual assaults on campus.
