Coming to a new country is an exciting but daunting matter. I know, I am an immigrant to America myself. I can meet with you, draft, and file documents and petitions. I stragegize long term solutions to all types of immigration problems including for people who have run afoul of visa provisions and those who have had criminal convictions. I also draft and advise asylum seekers and give my clients strong representation in Immgration courts and in the Federal court.

A person spends a lot of time at his/her job, working hard, and deserves to compensated fairly and fully. Unfortunately, sometimes employers take advantage of their employees forcing them to work without minimum wage and/or overtime. We help employees to restore their rights and get maximum compensation for the mistreatment. We also work with those who became a victim of discrimination at work, and/or was retaliated against.

  3. Asylum

Asylum helps saving lives. It allows those who were persecuted in their home countries to enjoy normal life that we all deserve.

  4. Discrimination

Sexual harassment, age discrimination, gender discrimination, discrimination based on sexual orientation, disability discrimination are all prohibited at work. Do not wait until it is too late: you have a right to be free from offensive behavior.

I enjoy practicing law and helping people. I believe in justice, and equality. I work hard to help my every client, and to make sure that client knows that he/she is not alone.  I represent clients in Asylum, Deportation and Removal proceedings, Immigration Court, Appeals. I help them with Hardship waivers, green card applications, work and business visas, marriage petitions, work authorization, humanitarian parole, parole in place, and all other immigration challenges. You may visit my website http://www.shautsova.com for more information.

Another area of practice that I enjoy helping people in, is Employment Discrimination: sexual harassment, discrimination on religious grounds, race, age grounds, gender, pregnancy discrimination. Please visit our employment law website http://www.workharassmentattorneys.com/ to learn more.

I am a Russian speaking New York attorney, but my practice reaches far beyond language skills.

Professional, competent, and very pleasant
My mom applied to US citizenship with medical N-648. On her first interview an immigration officer denied her disability waiver, she is a qualified applicant but the form was rejected anyway. I was happy to find Alena Shautseva and she took care of this issue gracefully. Alena knew exactly what to propose as a strategy for the next interview. My mom’s passed the exam successfully with this lawyer’s assistance and became a U.S. citizen. Alena was professional, pleasant, and kept the promises. My family is greatly appreciated for Alena’s competence and expertise in this matter.

Highly Intelligent, Flexibly Intuitive, and Sincerely Caring
My experience with Alena Shautsova has been more than pleasant, & I mean that in all aspects. From start to finish, she not only gave my wife & I the confidence we needed to go through all the necessary steps but she was always informative, polite, easy to talk to, & understanding. I’m someone that always does a great deal of research before I spend money on something, whether it’s something as important as a lawyer or doctor, or something as basic as a mousepad. Anyone researching Ms.Shautsova will find that she has a stellar record & a prestigious background in immigration law. It was the start of my confidence & what led me to contact her in the first place. I am extremely keen when it comes to extrapolating on-paper data into real world scenarios, no matter how abstract the connection. It’s a gift that allows me to see other people’s gifts & how good they can be at it. Believe me when I say, Alena met & EXCEEDED all my expectations no matter the hardships we encountered. To give a brief description of the situation we had, my wife is Canadian & I am an American citizen. In one of my visits to her, an uncontrollable event forced us to have her cross the border with me on my way back to the U.S.. She overstayed the 6 months that Canadians are allowed to stay within a 12 month period. By this point we’ve been together for 2 and a half years. Another issue was that the border officer who checked us on the Amtrak did not stamp her passport upon entry. I actually had to ask for mine to be stamped as that is something that I prefer to have for my own records. Fast forward a year and a half into gathering records, filing documents (all of which is made easy with the fact that all you have to do is hand what she asks of you to her), Ms.Shautsova training and preparing us, and my wife and I attending the necessary government protocols such as her getting her biometrics done, we were finally scheduled for an interview. The man who interviewed us was an extremely unfair person and was not satisfied with what we had so we were scheduled for another more in depth interview. This had my wife and I really worried, not so much that we had anything to hide or did anything wrong, as our relationship was as real as it can possibly be, but when someone is the most important thing in the world to you, even the small notion of possibly being separated from them even for a brief moment, is going to eat away at you. This is where Ms.Shautsova is not only one of the most knowledgeable, skilled, clever, and intelligent immigration lawyer around, but also very considerate, kind, and keenly knows what to inform you about in order for you to regain your composure and your confidence. She briefed us on all our options, what each path would require, and trained us extensively for the interview. She even briefed us on the possible negative outcomes and the solutions for them to keep us from worrying. If you have anything specific to ask, you can be comfortable in asking her. She does not judge. For the two years we knew her we always felt like we were talking to an extremely reliable friend who was helping us get through a stressful situation, instead of just a professional who we were paying to solve our problems. Speaking of payment, Alena’s prices are more than fair. For two years we only paid once, which was the initial payment we agreed to at the very beginning. With Alena Shautsova, you are getting ELITE quality service for the price of your normal lawyer, and I do not exaggerate. At the end of it all, Ms.Shautsova fought for us and we were able to acquire residency for my wife. If an immigration lawyer is what you’re looking for, I can’t give you a reason why anyone would need to look further. Knowing her for two years, it’s easy for me to see how vast and extensive her knowledge in the field is. One final thing I want to add in here: Her assistant is a great guy. He played a big role in keeping my wife and I from worrying too much.

Very patient person, gave me all the nitty-gritty of various kinds and possibilities of visa
We went through all the visas suitable for my wife and me. She answered all the question in details and gave me extra time to discuss ways of possible immigration as well. Thanks

So lucky I found her
My wife's immigration case was denied due to identity theft. Negative information was entered on her record by DHS. My first attorney did not really know how to go about to resolve this. My 2nd attorney was very slow, hard to get a hold, even though he had 10+ years of experience. Out of desperation I found Ms. Shautsova on Avvo. I had 3 consultations with her while I was still with my other attorney. Each time I came away with extremely valuable information that help my case progress forward. She helped me with getting my wife's record corrected in CBP. Finally, I decide to retain her as the legal representative for me. She was able to get my wife's waiver of inadmissibility approved. I cannot even begin to describe her level of knowledge. I was always able to get in touch with her whenever I needed to. She was very professional.

Excellent Service
I hired Alena in 2017 in order to obtain my permanent residency and earlier this month I finally received my green card and it is all thanks to Alena. She has been incredible throughout the entire process and has been very understanding, communicative and informative at all times. Although the process seemed long, she certainly provided me with the necessary confidence and patience. I would highly recommend her services!

A good lawyer.
Anyone who needs a attorney you have just found a good one, Ms. Shautasova was very helpful in my case, she did not stop ever and was there when I needed her. Very resilient, articulate and understanding as she share her stories with us and speaks with a deep conviction. I wouldn't be anywhere far without her help, she has my deepest condolences and respect.

Professional , Knowledgeable and Experienced Lawyer
Alena Shautsova is the great immigration Lawyer. I'm very glad that I chose Alena Shautsova for our case. Our case was very difficult because my husband lost his passport which he entered the country. We went to other lawyers but they didn't give us enough hope. Than I start researching for a good lawyer and I found her on the web. Alena Shautsova and Mr Gregory were very flexible with very good attitude to us. When we explained our case to Alena Shautsova, she listened very carefully and said I will work hard for your case and gets your green Card by one year which she does. I can't explain how happy and excited we are now. Yes I highly recommend Alena Shautsova to anyone who needs for immigration issues and being thankful to her.

Professional Immigration Lawyer
Alena is a truly professional immigration attorney. We found Alena's info on the web when my mother-in-law needed an immigration attorney to help her with the citizenship exam process. My mother-in-law is 77 year old and was uncapable of going through the process on her own. Alena not only helped with all the necessary paperwork, but also literally took her hand and walked her to the exam room. Not only a great immigration lawyer, but a very nice person as well.

Thank you
I had the good pleasure of working through my Immigration process with the most sincere, thorough, personable, and professional attorney Alena Shautsova and her very able Assistant Gregory. They walked me step-by-step through the process of obtaining my permanent residency. There were many times I got uptight about or did not understand some issue or the other and they were always there for me. Alena made herself always available, helped me out with questions that appear time to time. If you want a 1st class Immigration/legal professional look no further. She is my go to attorney and I recommend her to everyone I meet who has a need for legal intervention. I am thankful and Lucky that I walked into her office in Brooklyn 3 years ago. Today I am granted asylum and thankful client. THANK YOU Alena!

CONFIDENT AND KNOWLEGIABLE
Immigration law is very complex and immigration process may be very long, scary and exhausting. Alena is a very confident and knowledgeable attorney. Her help during my immigration court was tremendous! Alena is very efficient and professional and because of that we have received a positive result despite on dealing with the judge who was rated #1 for the rejection of cases, at that time.

whats right is right, what's wrong is wrong!
A few years ago I was fired from my job of 5 years, the reason given was purely false and weak but I had no other choice but to pack my stuff and walk away! Upon walking away I knew something was wrong but didn't know the law, I didn't just lose my job that day, I lost myself confidence, I don't want to sound dramatic but this decision made to terminate me really messed me up. I didn't think of fighting back because I had no idea how to even start. As I started my job search I came across many law firms who represent victims like me and I asked for advise, no one bothered to respond so I gave up and when on job interviews however was quickly smacked with reality, I struggled with adding my previous employer on my resume, I struggled with adding names of ppl in this company who would at least vouch for my 5 year employment, I was terrified to say the least, one day I received a call from Alena, not her secretary, not her phone answering system but she took the time to call me directly and speak to me, right away after a few minutes of basic conversation with her I felt a sense of relief, Alena did not speak to me like a lawyer, she spoke to me like a mom, like a sister and I felt so comfortable with her, I then decided to meet with her, I didn't expect to see a tiny lady behind a desk, not my the way she sounded on the phone at least lol.... Alena spent hours with me, we spoke about my options, she let me decide whether or not I wanted to pursue fighting back, I never felt pressured but what I did feel was secure. The case was not easy but she fought every single time, Alena quickly became not only my attorney but someone I could Reach out to when in doubt, Alena is a busy attorney and a family woman but she never made me wait on answers, every time I reached out, she responded. The case took some time to settle but not as much as I anticipated and I strongly believe it was because she was on top of everything. During our time together Alena became sort of a mentor, I'm happy to say that eventually, I took back my confidence this company took from me, I was able to get into a another great company and that's because Alena lead me in the right direction, we finally won the battle and settled the case, in the end the compensation was nice but winning the battle was sweeter. There are laws that protect us from companies that discriminate against race and sexual preferences and I would've never, ever known that without the knowledge of Alena Shautsova, she won my case but she also won the respect of my family and myself. Alena is not only the smartest lawyer I've met ( and I've met quite a few) but she's also a caring individual who knows the law from front to end and will fight tooth and nail for your rights! I hope to never have to go through this experience again but if I do, it's Alena Shautsova I'd choose to go to war with, from the day I met her I knew, everything was going to be alright! Thank you Alena, you have given me the self confidence I never knew I had, I tip my hat off to you and your team! Thank u from the bottom of my heart for everything you have taught me and for helping me get my life back on track! I am forever grateful!
