David took my case in May of 2015 and was staring down the barrel of a habitual offender life sentence. As a 4th time offender there was not much this man could do for me in regards to begging leniency. Ironically I met David several months before on a bogus charge which he ultimately got dismissed.... Again with my record and previous incarcerations, arrests, etc. it was no small miracle this lawyer, this man, was still able to get me a personal bail while proving my innocence. So when I found myself in real trouble and completely guilty of this new crime I knew in my gut this man would do everything in his power to help me out. He is the only lawyer I've ever dealt with that was always there to accept my calls or returned them promptly through my people. When this man came to me with the plea bargain I believed in my heart this was the absolute best deal I was going to get. I plead guilty to 5 to 15 years instead of the 15 to life I was facing. Leading up to this plea David and his lovely assistant came to visit me several times sometimes twice a day which is unheard of if you've ever been involved in the legal system! I remember one such time during our many visits his assistant put her pen down and looked me directly in the eye and posed the most profound question ever put to me... TWICE "It is my job to dig up as much information as possible to make you NOT look like the monster the State is prepared to make you out to be. We are going to put everything we have into getting you the best deal possible but are you going to change your life if you see the light of day or is this just a big waste of time?" I was asked this same question by the friend who hired David for me. My friend said "What can I do to help you? I told her to find that lawyer David Newton who got me off on that bogus case because I've never met a lawyer who I can honestly say I've trusted. And the next question was if I pay for this lawyer are you going to change your life?" I told this person "yes" During my incarceration I completed over 35 self help and educational programs along with constant employment. * Project youth 2 yrs. * C.R.A. Correctional Recovery Academy 1 yr. * N.E.A.D.S. National Education for Assistance Dog Services 3+ yrs. * Leadership training 1 yr. * Restorative Justice 1 yr. * Alcoholics Anonymous 7 yrs. * State Trooper Horse Barn 18 months * Minimum security 2.5 yrs. and countless other volunteer programs/work assignments I was paroled after less than half my sentence because I made that promise to David, his assistant, and my friend that I would indeed change my life. Most importantly I made the promise to myself. Since released from my incarceration I have completed a long term treatment program to further my substance abuse and criminal thinking issues of the past and am proud to say that in just under 6 months I am gainfully employed pursuing a life long dream to become a chef starting @ 48k with plenty of room for advancement. I have a beautiful apartment and am building my credit to buy a vehicle in the upcoming weeks. I have kept in constant contact with David and his assistant throughout my entire incarceration and continue to give them progress reports since my release. David to this day answers my texts or emails within minutes of receiving them and is genuinely happy to hear of my success... Listen folks at the end of the day whether you are guilty or innocent I'm telling you this guy, this lawyer, David Newton will give you his all. Up to and including the honest truth about what he can or can't do for your situation. Whatever the outcome legally? It is up to the individual to make the changes needed for a better tomorrow. David and his staff helped me to not spend the rest of my life in prison and now I do the work needed to stay out. I consider this man a wonderful lawyer and an even better friend to have in my corner...
