Shawanna Johnson

Shawanna L. Johnson, Esq. provides representation in commercial litigation, contract review and negotiation, employment law, internal compliance and health benefits, workers’ compensation, and commercial liability insurance coverage and litigation. After earning her B.A. in Economics in 2001 at Harvard University, Shawanna went on to acquire her Juris Doctorate in 2008 at Boston University School of Law. Shawanna is a registered member of the Bar in the State and District Courts of Nevada, all State Courts and Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York State, and all state courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Shawanna has defended government municipalities in multiple workers’ compensation appeals hearings & district court litigations; a large hospital and medical services provider in a complex litigation trial; a large corporate client in a multi-jurisdictional federal litigation; victims of the Madoff fraud against claw-back adversary proceedings; and clients against indictments, civil complaints, subpoenas, investigations, civil plea agreements & negotiations in multi-jurisdictional white collar matters. In addition to her countless hours representing high-powered clients, Shawanna also gives much of her time to Pro Bono matters, including Legal Aid of Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Family Court Ask-A-Lawyer Program, the Children’s Attorney Project, and the New York Family Court Volunteer Attorney Project. Shawanna has authored several articles, including the forthcoming “Know Your Workforce: The Importance of Knowing and Communicating with Employees before the Need for a Lawsuit Arises” to be published in the Nevada Practitioner’s Journal of Labor and Employment Law. Shawanna has received many awards, including receiving the Boston University School of Law Black Law Students Association Young Alumnus Award in 2015.
