Instead of confirming, the attorney called back and immediately accused me of trying to get free legal advice. When I explained this wasn’t my intentio...n, and I was not expecting any action until the paid consult, I was cut off and told, “but you did.” When I said, “I feel uncomfortable moving forward if you don’t trust me as a client,” she responded skeptically, “Well, I guess if you say you weren’t seeking legal advice.” This felt dismissive and condescending. Then she kept bringing it up again. Because of this interaction, I decided to cancel the consultation and seek support elsewhere. I also wonder if her response was influenced by my disclosure of mental health conditions. I’m sharing this to help others, especially those in vulnerable situations, make an informed decision when choosing legal representation.
