I am a corporate lawyer who was arrested and charged with DWI in Dallas County. A forced blood draw indicated my blood alcohol level was .13%. I wanted the best representation available and was prepared to vigorously defend myself. I interviewed several DWI attorneys and chose Doug Wilder because a friend of mine, who happens to be a former DWI prosecutor who had tried cases adverse to Mr. Wilder, recommended Mr. Wilder to me. My friend, the former prosecutor, admired Mr. Wilder's tenacious approach to case preparation and his formidable skills in the courtroom. I hired Mr. Wilder. Based on my personal experience, Mr. Wilder is an excellent DWI attorney whose strong reputation as a trial lawyer and willingness to try cases is respected by the prosecution, and is strategic advice is spot on. My case resulted in no DWI conviction. I am very happy I hired Mr. Wilder and I would strongly recommend him to anyone charged with a crime in Dallas, especially the crime of DWI.
Doug Wilder is truly an amazing person and an even more outstanding lawyer. When I was first pulled over for a DWI I thought that the rest of my life would be ruined. I was pulled over for driving 64 in a 40 and ended up blowing a .115. I have heard the horror stories about what having a DWI on the record could be to a person’s career and the additional consequences that would come from it. I needed someone to hear my side of the story, someone to fight for me, and then I found Doug. He reviewed my case and was certain that we had a chance of a not guilty verdict by taking it to trial. He made sure to keep me updated through out the process and was prompt about answering any of my calls and emails. We had several meetings regarding what was going to happen. Doug wanted to make sure that I fully understood the process. He also spent a lot of time with my witness who was with me in the car. So, by the time trial can around I know exactly what was going to be said and felt confident that the case could go my way. Trials are tough. Information can come to light during trial, some of which might seems damaging, but Doug has a great policy of always fighting with the truth; and that is what we did. Doug assured my that with the expert that he has worked with in the past and the prosecuting attorneys that he has fought against that the truth was the best way to win. I am so happy to say that we did. It was concluded that the field sobriety tests and .115 breath test that was administered to me that night was not enough evidence to convict me of a DWI. With a new job right around the corner, I knew that a conviction would have been devastating and would have cost me the job, but thanks to Doug and his team we succeeded. Everyone worked very hard to ensure I was well taken care of and for anyone else that might have a situation similar to mine I would highly recommend Doug Wilder and The Wilder Firm.
I was stopped at a red light with two blown out tires when a cop behind me turned on his lights. After stumbling through a field sobriety test, I was arrested. At the station I blew a .101, got charged with a Texas DWI, and spent the night in jail.
A DWI on anyone’s record is an expensive ordeal that lingers forever. In my case it would hit me especially hard because I’d worked my way up in corporate America, in regulatory compliance, and my very bright career future could be snuffed--or at least significantly dimmed with a DWI on my record. Worse than that, my family lives in Canada, where a DWI would make me criminally inadmissible. My career and family life were on the line, and it was critical I did everything possible to protect myself, no matter how hopeless it seemed when I left jail. I needed the very best representation.
After researching online, I decided to go with the Wilder Firm. Doug’s experience, specialization, and excellent reviews sold me on him. He and his staff were always friendly, responsive, and communicated the complexities, nuances, and strategy options for combatting this charge. They handled the administrative work, and set up a login to their website so I could always access case documents, calendar, receipts. Having someone to answer my questions and address my concerns was comforting. I felt they understood my case.
The process did take a long time--court dates were set, then extended. Sometimes by Doug, other times at my request. I travel a lot for work and personally, and Doug’s team helped guide me through travel requirements, re-schedule court dates, and navigate other restrictions.
When it came time to decide to fight it, I wasn’t pressured. The case against me seemed ironclad, but the stakes were high and I had to take a chance. At my second last court date, I was prepared to plea...but at the last minute, I knew I’d regret not taking the chance. Doug got the date pushed back 3 months and asked how I wanted to proceed. I told him I wanted to fight this...and so began the motions.
Almost two years to the day of my arrest, I met Doug in the courtroom after he’d disappeared to talk to the judge. Ready for trial, I said nervously, “We gonna do this today?” He said, “ I’ve done my part....they’re going to dismiss your case.” Words can not describe my gratitude.
I highly recommend the Wilder firm. I was very happy with them throughout the process (and especially the outcome!). And if you do hire them and they get you that second chance--stay sober behind the wheel always!
Doug's great. I was worried cosidering this was my first dwi charge and I had an open container. All they had was the sobriety test which I did pretty good on. Doug connected with the jury and really fought for me. 15 minutes later the jury came back with not guilty!
I will definitely call doug again!
Doug Wilder is considered by many, including myself, to be the best DWI lawyer to be had.
Doug carefully considers all the aspects of a case, including possible ramifications that may result, which others may not take into account. He will then advise accordingly making sure that the client fully understands all of the issues involved.
I got pulled over for my 3rd DWI. It happened on 4th of July weekend so it was no refusal and they made me blow. I blew a .08. I was worried bc your 3rd one can mean prison time. But Doug was always so helpful and knew exactly what we needed to do to take care of things. He put together a dossier of information to show the judge. We got it lowered to a misdemeanor, I recieved 100 days in jail with nights and weekends only. Since It was a misdemeanor I only served 50 days. I had no probation, no court costs or fines and fees. Pretty amazing since some of the guys who were serving nights and weekends with me who also had 3 DWI's received 10 years probation. Thanks again Doug!
I seriously thought i was screwed when i got my DWI. I didn't know what to think, who to ask for answers for any of my questions, or anything about this entire process. Thankfully I was referred to Doug by family, and i couldn't be happier with that choice. I was pulled over and arrested for a DWI, admitted to drinking on video, and had a blood test come back with a BAC of .132. Doug and his team's knowledge of the law is impeccable. With his knowledge, we were able to get a Not Guilty verdict based on a technicality. 10/10 would (hopefully not have to) hire again.
I had so much fun at my company's crawfish boil, I never made it home that night, whomp whomp! Instead I found myself swimming in a whole lotta trouble with the local police dept and facing a DWI charge. I was completely overwhelmed and terrified of what was to come. So I sought out in search of a lawyer, someone to bat in my corner. After interviewing a few lawyers (all high profile), I chose Doug because he took his time when consulting with me, and I felt reassured by his expertise and demeanor (think traits of a good attorney). Best decision ever! My license was NEVER suspended from the ALR hearing and eventually my case was dismissed. Absolutely the best outcome I could've asked for considering the circumstances. I highly recommend Doug. Choose Wilder! Oh and I like Judy too, she's awesome.
I had a DWI/2nd Offense and was devastated, scared, and lost. By far, my best decision through this whole process was engaging Doug Wilder. From Day One, he and his outstanding associates calmed me, walked me through alternatives and suggestions, were there every step of the way from the beginning, through my court date, and afterwards. As I went through the various steps of the process, I talked to many of the people in my same situation and it was clear that Doug's outstanding service to me and my case is not the norm, at least from my peers. Talk of no response from their attorney, no help, no advice, and most important to me, no compassion to these peers' situation and willingness to help. Doug was a superstar and that's not only my opinion. At my Occupational Drivers License hearing, in open court, the judge addressed me and said "I hope you know you have one of the finest attorneys in the State of Texas. Follow his advice and you'll be ok." I couldn't have said it better myself. And a shout-out to his paralegal Rebecca. I will be forever grateful to both. Daniel - Dallas
I was arrested for suspicion of DWI 2. My professional career, clearance and retirement were at stake. My whole world as far as I was concerned would be turned upside down. Doug gave me a since of comfort relief after our initial meeting that I had found the person to save my career. I felt very confident with hiring this man and his team to save my life as I knew it.
Knowing now that, after meeting with 4 different Attorneys before Doug. Doug had great references, online positive reviews & the lack of negative review and a history of winning cases. His attentiveness in listening and understanding my extenuating circumstances with my job (my clearance), his case management skills (his team notifying me on every issue immediately), his "CAN DO" spirit, attention to detail (note taking during our meetings, his questioning me about the details surrounding the day & night of the arrest), professionalism (he didn't treat me like I was there for him, I wasn't just another poor sap for him to help), Being chosen as the "Super Lawyer of the year" by his colleague in Dallas County multiple years running
( http://www.superlawyers.com/texas/lawyer/Douglas-L-Wilder/4302d017-75cc-4c37-a72a-586c028bbb82.html ), courtroom experience (he seemed at home in the courtroom like it was "HIS" home playing field) and being a former prosecutor for Dallas County were reasons not only why I chose him, but why am glad to endorse and recommend this man and his team.
My case was pushed back for quite a time for my job out of country. The Dallas ADA's team were adamant in hanging me out to dry they wouldn't budge or sway at all. They even had a supervisor with them through the entire trial, and they still didn’t prevail against Doug.
During our meetings, Doug explained both sides of my case (good & bad), walked me thru every process, spoke of his network of experts readily available for us,
worked with me on every issue and stayed positive thru it all. Getting an experts witness to inspect blood work process, to test the vials and blood independently.
Doug and I seemed to be a team going into combat getting ready for trial. He gave me a since of trust in him and we built a camaraderie that I normally only get when I head "down range" with men that I will have to trust with my life and that was a real morale booster.
Getting ready for trial, Doug was a machine... driving out to the area I was arrested, taking pictures, looking up state and local laws, finding loop holes wherever they may be that applied to my case, working and building a case like you would hope & expect a true professional attorney should.
I was found NOT GUILTY by the judge and jury!!!
One of the best days in my entire life!! My record, my good name,
my freedom, my job, my clearance, my retirement... I owe it all to Doug Wilder.
Judy was (and still is I'm sure) a knowledgeable and true asset to the "WILDER TEAM"! She handled my expungement process as stress free on me as possible. Very sweet and wonderful person as well.
Although I didn't get to work with Rebecca very long, from the times we did interact, she was very professional, knowledgeable at her job and very sweet lady.
I am a better person knowing Doug and his team.
Thank you Doug, A thousand times thank you!!
For saving my life, my career and returning my hope in the justice system that there are great lawyers out there like you who will fight to win not just settle, for those of us caught up in the legal system.
Sincerely & eternally grateful,
