John Schorsch represented me in a divorce/custody case. Due to repeated and frustrating outcomes, John and I agreed that I would hire new counsel to represent me. And, in that conversation, John agreed to transfer my files and update the new counsel at no charge. John’s final bill then arrived with more than $5K in charges for passing my file. I paid the final bill, deducted $5K and sent my timely payment along with a letter reminding him of his verbal promise to me and why the $5 had been deducted. In total, I had paid John $95,000. I received no further invoices.
About a year later, a bill for $5K arrived from John with “previous balance” in the description area. Again, I contacted John, told him the balance wasn't owed due to our agreement and referenced my letter to him at time of final payment. His invoicing once again stopped.
On July 7th I received an invoice for $10K from John - $5K for Previous balance, and an additional $5K for 0.00 hours of Professional services rendered.
A benefactor, with knowledge of all this, paid his invoice to John and included an additional $5K. He verbally told John to please stop my invoices. John cashed this benefactor’s check. But, I just received an invoice from John still trying to collect $5K.
John was very unsuccessful in representing me, but was well paid. I feel his billing behavior is very unprofessional, petty, and totally unwarranted. His word should mean something.
I have recommended Mr Schorsch ("JS") without hesitation when asked and there is a need of his impressive and effective legal skill sets. When you engage his team's services it is, figuratively, like a pop up zone of safety until time to emerge with some confidence.
Simply grateful JS was on my side - would NOT want him on the other, and unleashed!
I engaged JS for my divorce about 15 years ago.
Having JS as your paladin makes the other side's legal people take notice and 'behave' - no tolerance of 'games'.
Definitely a difference between intellect, energy and professionalism to the other team from the perspective of my case.
JS was equally as tough on me to pursue my settlement rights in the process and didn't hold back his position with the Judge that I had diminished my potential ultimate settlement ~ my own stubborn choice/decision to 'be nice'. Nice is not always sensible nor practical. BTW all his predictions of the consequences of my choices here came true in time.
JS also managed the tone and type of communications; objective, with excellent ground rules, which then, provided a sense of relief and also in time assisted enormously with a platform of civility to form, as best possible, a working co-parenting relationship with my ex-husband for our daughter. Mr Schorsch kept the other party and his legal team 'behaving' with a focus on the process as business-like negotiations with a sense of control - 'nastiness' was contained.
And all these years on I can still depend upon his resources (therapists) with a now manifested Parental Alienation (PAS) situation; an issue he is very cognoscente and concerned about where many lawyers are not. His intellectual capacities, energy and memory is phenomenal .
An anecdotal aside: A few years ago, a top litigator lawyer friend asked who conducted my divorce, and when I told him it was John Schorsch, he was immediately animated. He shared that JS had interned under him (years ago in a different practice from both of them today), and enthusiastically stated that, "John was the smartest young *(lawyer)* I have EVER seen!". This litigator is one of the best in the nation and glad I had the 'best' he could have advised. Now from the added experience of my own consulting firm that assists attorneys, my frame of reference is much deeper than before, and I concur ever more so as time goes by.
I have been represented by multiple lawyers in my 30 years as an entrepreneur. I would place John at the top of the list. His evaluation of the case , analysis of the options and estimates of the outcome are prophetic. He's very sharp and thinks the entire case through ,with all possible outcomes, before he acts. Best of all, we won every action. If I have a tough case, He is my go to guy.
John was exceptional in the handling of my child custody case. His knowledge and expertise in Family Law was displayed in court and against some very high profile attorneys (a team). I could tell he was very respected by the court and his ability to question each witness was so superior to the other attorneys, he actually made them nervous. I would highly recommend Mr. Schorsch to anyone seeking an attorney who can get to the truth of a matter and leave you feeling like he earned every penny you paid him.
